  • Several Questions about Trading

    Hi Mark,

You will be able to tell by my questions that this is all totally new to me. I was going to message you, but thought I should put them here, since they might help others now or in the future.

1.) DVC isn't on your resort list. Do you think you will ever do DVC trades?

2.) I'm in the closing process with Grand Pacific Palisades - which is on the list. It's a float week. If I wanted to trade it, would I book a week and then deposit it?

3.) I saw that you had 2 different types of weeks: High demand and Premium. Which is the most preferred?

    Thanks,
    Jodi

Jodi - Thank you kindly for your post.

1: DVC trades in high season, (any period of time when kids are out from school), can be extremely difficult, because typically the people who own there, buy it to use and not give up for exchange. They want the "Disney" experience for their family.

We have a number of Members who do own at DVC, however, even with DVC members in our system, we don't openly add those properties in our directory, simply because, as with RCI, the demand is overwhelmingly high, and it doesn't make much sense promoting a place where there is known extreme shortage in high season.

The whole idea of a successful exchange process, is to have alternative resorts, locations and/or dates. When members state they will only take DVC or nothing, it's self defeating, especially when there are so many other really nice resorts in the region, that would provide them with a great vacation.

2: Grand Pacific Resort, very nice. Have stayed there a number of times. That is correct. You would simply reserve a week at your resort. (Note the dates and reservation number). Then simply login to your SFX account and click the deposit a week tab on the left.

3: The most preferrd seasons are "Prime-Time". That is when there is the most demand for space. Also, those who deposit Prime-Time are given higher trading power for their exchanges. Trading-Power is a formula that gives you greater ability to trade to other places.

Here is a link to our Season Grid. Please refer to CA Southern Coast for the season dates.

If you have any other questions, I will be delighted to respond. Or we invite you to call Member Services at 800.739.9969 who will be glad to assist you.

      Thanks for all the information.

I was inquiring about DVC as a DVC member, wondering if I could deposit a week at a DVC resort. It sounds like I can, but it just isn't shown? Even with DVC opening a resort on Oahu, the big island has my heart. I was wondering if I could trade a DVC week for a big island stay.

      Thanks again.

Abosolutely! You can deposit a DVC week with SFX even though it isn't shown in the directory, and place a request for the Big Island. We book many exchanges into the Hawaiian Islands each year.

There are some nice properties on the Big Island. I used to live on the Big Island and O'ahu. Have many great memories of both places.

        Hope this helps...
