  • SFX - Gold or Platinum Membership

We are timeshare newbies and just joined SFX as a Gold member (free). Few days ago received a call from an SFX salesperson to upgrade to lifetime Diamond member for $2495. I couldn't stomach paying that much upfront we're still learning about the TS world. However, I am considering the upgrading to the Platinum membership. I'm already a RCI member, if that influences the recommendations.

Is the SFX Platinum membership worth the $199 annual fee? Are there promotional specials that would lower this annual fee?

    Thanks!

Coachsandy - Thank your for your post. These are excellent questions we will be happy to answer.

Firstly, welcome to the Timeshare world. Much of it seems very confusing at first, however, we at SFX along with members of TimeshareForums are here to help, and make life a little easier for you.

The Diamond Rewards membership has a good value if you regularly take the higher end cruises as part of your vacation lifestyle.

Gold Membership is good for those who basically only get away one or two weeks a year for a vacation. It is our basic program with no annual membership fees (saving you around $80 per year compared to the two major exchange companies). And an exchange fee of $189 for domestic and international exchanges.

To specifically address your questions,...."Is the SFX Platinum membership worth the $199 annual fee? Are there promotional specials that would lower this annual fee?".....

    1 year @ $199
    3 years@ $299 - averages $99 per year
    5 years@ $399 - averages $80
    10 years@ $599 - averages $60

It's worth upgrading to Platinum for these reasons.

1: If you take more than one week of vacation per year, you save 15% off our Sell off list, which is an average of $75 to $100 per booking for your extra vacations, which could be for you, family and friends.

2: Your exchange fee is only $159 vs. $189.

3: Your can place a request for your exchange 18 months in advance. Gold Members cannot request more than 12 months in advance for their exchange.

4: Gold Members pay $39 for a guest certificate if they are sending someone in their place. Platinum members pay zero.

5: Platinum Members can request a Free one size upgrade for their exchange. Gold Members pay between $199 - $299 for a room size upgrade.

    6. In addition to all this, if you deposit a prime-time 2012 week, you will receive a $500 SFX Vacation Cash-Card you can use towards you transactions over the next two-years.

Bottom line... if you vacation more than one week a year, you save more money than what the membership costs you, and no other exchange company is giving you $500 to spend in their store.

    Hope this helps,
