  • Re: Adjusted Season Grid

    Hi Mark.

I had a post asking when summer vacations were for folks across the US. It was to aid us in making our exchange opportunities boards more relevant to a broader range of users. Granted there were only 47 posts but I was shocked at how many were out as of Memorial Day or first half of June! So it is not just empty-nesters.

We have also adjusted the definition of Summer Prime-Time. That has expanded from June 15 through September 7, to June 1 through September 30. This is a result of a fast growing "Baby-Boomer" home of empty-nesters
You can use this as a reference.

BTW Easter also ends up in March, sometimes as early as the 24th.

Let me scrounge around as I have a US Spring break calendar around here somewhere that may help you guys with the ways you weight your weeks.

Lawren - thanks for the information. Without question there is a increasing trend for vacation market demands either side of the traditional June 15 - Labor Day week Holiday periods.

      Mark,

Looks like there is a error on your listings for Europe High demand 10/1 - 9/30 Isn't that the whole year?

Also were prime demand once went to 4/30 then High demand started on 5/1 will SFX be adjusting the start of high demand?

One last thing, When might the new website be getting the more complete list of resorts, you've been talking about this past year?

Bill - thank you for pointing out the typo... fixed!

For Europe, I don't think Prime demand was ever up to 4/30 as the weather is typically not very good prior to around May. Here is the current grid for Europe...

        High Demand: 4/1 through 5/30 and 10/1 through 10/30.
        Prime Demand: 6/1 through 9/30.

If the President of our company didn't change his mind about the design and cost of the directory in our new web, it would have been finished about 2 months ago. However... he decided to spend thousands of dollars more on the project to make it outstanding rather than just good. So hence the delays... I won't quote a timeframe incase "Dave" is watching and I am not going to give him any more opportunity to "cap" on me It will be worth the wait!!

I'm sorry I wasn't clear about this. It was a comment not about Europe but those areas which switched from "prime till 4/30" to "prime to easter". None of the high demands which follow have been adjusted.

Bill - when you see gaps in the dates between High-Demand and Prime-Time, those in-between dates we rate as a low-demand, and generally do not accept them as deposits.

However... our Members can still request Low-Demand seasons it if that is when they want to travel. Although we don't generally accept those deposits, we certainly have access to the space through various resources.

            Hope this helps...

Are you saying that these resorts ?

              Were:
Prime demand till 4/30 then High demand starting on 5/1
              Now:
Prime till easter then low easter - 4/30, then High demand starting on 5/1

The best guide is to simply look at the Season Grid and view the two seasons, Prime-demand and High-demand. The dates stated are the one's indicating demand and weeks accepted by SFX.
