  • Thanks SFX for great exchange

Just wanted to pass on that SFX provided a great exchange to our family. We just returned from the Grand Luxxe in Riviera Maya. The room and resort exceeded our expectations.

The additional fee is well worth it given the quality and amenities available. Further, those staying at Grand Luxxe are not charged for in room wifi or to use the spa/gym facilities.

Service at the resort was excellent. We would highly recommend to anyone that wants to enjoy a great experience in Mexico.

Thanks SFX, we will continue to use your services for great vacations!

It is good to hear you enjoyed your time at the Grand Luxxe in RM. We are going in January.

Is there any construction going on? Any tips on the resort, things to do, or does location of unit matter?

It is difficult to find much info on this resort. This will be our first visit to the Mayan RM resort. We will probably to one of the natural water parks.

    Thanks for any info,

We were there in August. There are excellent excursions you can take. The resort is beautiful, but it is sprawling because of the height restrictions for the buildings. The pools are awesome as is the beach. The one big downside is that the ocean is not swimmable -- it's all coral. So, if you want to treat yourself to a beautiful carribean beach, try the excursion to Isla Mujeres. The other hint about the place is that the sandwiches and breakfasts at the Jade deli are a good deal cheaper than many of the excellent restaurants there.

        Our review

They are constructing the 3rd building now but it is surrounded by the jungle and we never really noticed much noise and you couldn't really see the construction site.

Our unit was in building #2 which opened about 3 weeks ago. We were on the first floor but no complaints as it was an exchange and we didn't really expect the best view. The buildings are 3 stories tall and I can't imagine any of them have great views of the ocean.

We posted a review on Tripadvisor under the Grand Mayan Riviera Maya listing as there is no separate listing for the Grand Luxxe. I plan on posting some pictures later.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Make sure that you go to Xcaret. We have taken the Xcaret tour 3 times. We booked it directly from the Grand Mayan resort. If you do go, make sure you do the evening Mexican show at Xcaret as it is awesome.

Thanks! The review is great! We have stayed at GM in NV and Cabo but not at the RM location. This will also be our first Grand Luxxe visit. So all the information is appreciated.

Thanks! I have been trying to decide between Xcaret or Xel-Ha/Tulum. Are they different enough that we should do both? We will probably visit Play del Carmen to purchase groceries and wonder.

Most of the week we will stay on the resort. I imagine there is a lot to do on site. Sounds like plenty of areas to walk and explore.

The evening show at Xcaret sounds like fun.

kckreardon - Thank you for your post and positive feedback, it is very appreciated. I have stayed at the Grand Luxxe several times, and love it!! It is an outstanding experience. My favorite G.L. is at Nuevo Vallarta, but they are all great.

                Thanks,

Xcaret and Xel-Ha/Tulum are very different. If I could only choose one then it would definitely be Xcaret. However, I would do both if you are able to.

There is a lot to do at the resort. We have always gone for 2 weeks at a time. We usually just go off the resort for the tours which are just a couple days. We don't cook any meals on vacation so we just pick up a few snacks at the store at the resort. There are many dining options at the resort, including room service that we use. Sometimes we just pick up something at the on-site deli. They have excellent sandwiches at reasonable prices.

We went to Playa del Carmen to take the ferry to Cozumel.
