  • Carryover from platinum to gold

I am currently in a platinum membership trial deciding weather to pay to stay at this level or just go with the gold membership. I am leaning towards paying, but have a question in case I go gold instead. Will all my lifestyle weeks, cash card, etc. received from trading in my week carryover to my gold account?

Ilovemykidsmore - Thank you for your post.

If you change from Platinum to Gold, you will still get to keep and use all the benefits you received as a Platinum Member as a result of you depositing your week re the Promotion.

    And here comes the "however"...

You have to weigh the costs to renew as a Platinum Member versus the fees you would pay as a Gold Member. If the Gold transaction fees are more than the cost of a Platinum Membership, then obviously Platinum is the way to go.

    Lets examine costs vs. savings

    Exchange fee gold: $189
    Exchange fee Platinum: $159
    Savings per exchange fee: $30

    Unit size upgrade: Gold $199
    Platinum, FREE
    Savings: $199

Sell-off list for extra weeks of vacation
    Gold discounts: 0
    Platinum Discounts: 15%
If the average Sell off price for a week is $399
    savings are $60 per booking.

    Online searching for your exchange:
    Gold: 9 months in advance
    Platinum: 18 months in advance
Value: You can book further in advance than Gold Members.

    Guest certificate:
    Gold: $39
    Platinum: FREE
    Savings: $39

    Costs:
A 5 year Platinum Membership is only $399
That averages to only $79 per year.

My general advice is, if you are only going to take a one week vacation exchange per year, and have no interest in upgrading etc. then Gold Membership is a better value (FREE). Although some will argue having an outreach to 18 months in advance vs. 9 months for searching can justify the cost.

If you are traveling at least 2 or more weeks per year... between all the savings stated above, then the choice is obvious; Platinum, as the savings are far greater than the cost.

    Hope this helps,

I appreciate the quick and thorough response. We are a large family so the unit size upgrade fee alone is what's pushing me to stay platinum.
