    Mark,

A Dutch member OY, who is a big RCI advocate, is accusing SFX of renting out exchange deposits at the Sloan Garden resort in London in this thread: TPU "inflation"... is it RCI or resort thinking boosting required TPUs? - Page 2 - Timeshare Users Group Online Community Forums (see post 34)
I know that you do not generally post OY and you have stated before that SFX does not play RCI's rental games, so please give me your response so I can post it there.

Hi Carolinian - Thank you for your post. Unfortunately its just another typical case of baseless information without merit, which can be the norm on some sites.

If that poster took the time to read the information on our site, and our marketing (perhaps we should have written it in Dutch too), they would have been enlightened with the "fact" these are weeks in our system we have NO current exchange requests for, within a 90 day upcoming period. These Sell-off weeks may be booked for the transactional stated price OR THEY MAY BE USED FOR AN EXCHANGE!

Dutch or English, I don't know how to make it any clearer. It is with much regret there is still way too much misinformation, disinformation and lack of knowledge out there. It is unconscionable that a person can make such reckless and irresponsible statements without any basis or merit (or understanding how this works)... But as stated earlier that seems to be the norm on certain websites. I wonder why they don't have the courage to post in the SFX forum, where they can get a direct answer?

    Hope this helps...

    Thanks,

It is virtually impossible to discuss this with so many ignorant people that don't have a clue how it all works. They just make invalid assumptions that have no basis in fact. These people have a closed mind.

        Mark,
I think this is a nice option to have the option be either able to exchange or rent these last minute units. I know I don't always have an exchange to make but would love to have rentals available to me at a reasonable price. I like that SFX lets us choose how we want to book these units.
        Very nice.

[Removed emotive insults] I am not a defender or supporter of any timeshare company. I don't care about RCI, II, SFX, DAE or any company at all. Just happen to chose once RCI because we have timeshare and they had the biggest inventory. Never heard about SFX until I visited timeshare forums. Noticed that the SFX inventory is too small for us and does not cover all locations where we travel to and SFX will not be interested in our deposits. Just happen to know that Sloane Gardens Club consists of 10 apartments which are rented out by Sloane Gardens Club or are available through exchange or paid rental by SFX members. That's all. [Removed emotive insults] RCI does exchanges and rentals as well and so do other companies. Expedia rents out all the time and so do thousands of others. Now I understand that SFX rents out to members 90 days in advance. [Removed - Please keep it civil] I am glad for SFX members that Sloane Gardens Club is available for them. Enjoy your travels to London.[Removed - Please keep it civil]

There is a huge difference between SFX's sell off weeks and RCI's and other's rental programs. You are making assumptions that are not valid. Mark has explained what they are but you refuse to pay any attention. Before making unfounded statements, you should learn how the different systems work.

Hi Mark - Could you expand on the 'used for an exchange' part? I'm a member of SFX but maybe I missed something.....
                Thanks,

Zach - thank you for your [civil] post

I will be happy to explain. Typically in our industry, any inventory that is not booked up to 90 days out is considered "High-Risk". In other words, there is a probability it may not get booked and go to waste.

As an incentive to our Members, we offer these weeks for extra vacations Bonus Weeks etc. at almost give away low transaction fees. If you would rather use one of your timeshare weeks to use as an exchange for any of these weeks, that is also an option. So... you can book these weeks for a transaction fee, or simply use them for an exchange. We give you the choice.

                  Hope this helps...

This thread has me interested in SFX. I'm also interested in the [Removed emotive insults], but I guess I missed them. I'm always looking to add to my lexicon of [Colorful metaphors].

So, how active is SFX? Is the free 90 day trial worth it?

                    Thanks.

A gold account is free so what have you got to lose?
There are some interesting weeks on the sell off. Too bad my job has me tethered for now but I can see this being great for self employed or retirees who can get away at the spur of the moment. If you're lucky enough to live near their partner resorts then all the better.

BWolf - Thank you for your post. In trying to give you the best answers to your two questions, can you be more specific with "how active is SFX"?

Also, with the 90 day Platinum Trial, "is it worth it"? The trial is Free. But free or not, there has to be redeemable value attached to it for you and your family.

This will depend on how much you travel, and to which destinations. If you could advise on your travel needs, I can give a more complete response.

                        Many thanks,

                          Mark:

I'd say the best way to get answers to my questions is to sign-up. However, I'm leery of any site that says it is giving me something free but asks for my Visa Card.

Can you at least tell me how many units are typically available at any one time?

                          Bruce

You should be able to sign up for Gold membership without having to enter your credit card.

Bruce - Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Our IT department has removed the credit card information requirement on the Free 90 day Platinum Trial membership. Or you may choose Gold Membership, which is free on an ongoing basis. (You just pay an exchange fee and only when you are confirmed).

We cannot disclose how many week are available at any one time as availbility is constantly changing, and any number quoted would be meaningless. Typically in our online live availability there are around 10,000 weeks. These are weeks with no immediate requests pending against. No different to the large exchange companies, the only weeks you see online are weeks with no pending requests at any given moment in time.

The amount of weeks available online, only represent a small percentage of our inventory. Most exchange requests are fulfilled by placing a search for what you want. Again, that is no different than the other two exchange companies. Also, our inventory is not dependent on member deposits, as there are a number of other resources though our network of strategic alliances.

I feel what is more relevent, is what kind of destinations are you interested in traveling to, and what times of the year you like to travel?

Also, may I ask what resort/s you own at? as we do not accept every resort.

                              Thanks,
