  • What are my chances.....

Of getting an exchange to an area in which SFX doesn't specialize? I can get to Hawaii and Mexico and I live in beautiful California. I want to go to Santa Fe and the historic regions of the east coast and the countryside of Europe. Does SFX have availability in those kind of places or only the "popular" resort areas? If I put in a request for something like Santa Fe, will it just sit there with no activity or will SFX actively try to get an exchange for me?

I only ask because I have to make a choice of which exchange company will best work for the different types of vacations I seek. Sometimes I want the bells & whistles of a 5 star experience and sometimes I want to have a cozy, clean place to spend the night after a day of exploring.

Since you have been so upfront with answers to folks about what we can expect from SFX, I guess I'm hopeful you would give me some sage advice about requesting exchanges that are not the typical SFX fare.

I will continue to deposit and exchange with SFX for those great exchanges you do provide but if Santa Fe is out, I'd really like to know up front.

Thanks in advance for any answers,
    Julie

I just got my first trade through SFX. I'm going to Scotland in 2007. I even got my choice of weeks. I'd asked for 1/2 way between Glasgow and Edinburgh and that's exactly what I got. So far so good!

I emailed SFX about availability in Israel many months ago. I never received a response to that email so I take it that meant, "No."

Still not 100% since I never received a response, but too late for us this year, anyway.

Julie - thank you for your post.

There are only 3 cozy resorts in Santa Fe (not Gold Crown or 5 star), and Santa Fe is a high demand destination during the Summer and the month of October with high Owner usage for those periods. That alone tells you regardless of which exchange company you use the demand is far greater than the supply of space.

The same applies to other areas you mention. If there are only a couple of resorts in premium demand areas during prime time... then the odds are never great for exchange fulfillment, as the Demand is much higher than the Supply of space.

Without knowing what time of the year and what size unit needed I have to say, even if the odds aren't great, it is still worthwhile placing a request. If the request isn't placed... then the odds are truly Zero !!

There are thousands of exchanges we have booked over the years where the odds in the "big industry-wide exchange picture" are considered extremely difficult, and Member's were unable to get the exchange with other companies... but we came through. Of course not 100% of the time as that is not possible, but in many many instances we found the space.

The point is... place the request with your first choice... and have a second and third choice as alternatives for a Great Vacation.

....and here is the typical SFX fare "Be Flexible".

That is the core component of the Timeshare Exchange business model.

        Hope this helps.

travelSFO - thank you for your post. Unfortunately we couldn't locate your email on our mail-servers. I will be happy to respond to your question.

Subject to availability, we can access any quality resort in any system through our network of strategic alliances. You may peruse other exchange directories for choice. We note there are 3 Gold Crown resorts in the country, and then place the request with us for a search.
