  • Week Expiring

I have a week that expires 7-1-2008. Can I reserve something as long as it starts before 7-1-2006 or does the exchange need to be complete by 7-1-2008?

  • #2
you have to have the check in date by that date, and it is usually til the end of the month, thus the end of July

sorry, I didn't see this was on ask SFX that applies to RCI

Hi Riverdees05 - All travel must be completed by the expiration date. I believe it's the same rules with the other companies too. The last whole week of exchange prior to 7/1/08 would be 6/21 to 6/28/08 (That's if it's a Sat-Sat).

        Mark,

Since the week that I deposited went from July 1-8, 2006, seems like I should have till July 8, 2008 to use it.

Hi Riverdees - I believe as with RCI and I.I. as well, the two year clock starts as of the check-in day of the unit you deposited (not the check-out date). If it was to include the check-out date, it would be 2 years and 1 week.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but with RCI, if I deposit a week which begins on July 1, 2006, I have 2 years from the check-in date to use it INCLUDING that month. Example: for my July 1, 2006 week deposited with RCI:

            1) RCI would give me an exchange through July 31, 2008.
            2) The exchange CHECK-IN date must be by July 31, 2008 -- the actual week can extend beyond that (e.g. July 31 - Aug 7, 2008).

Seems like if you were able to use the week you deposited till July 8, then you should be able to use your exchanged week to July 8. I will check and see how RCI and II works.

Mark I am not 100% positive but I am about 90% positive that this is how it works as it is posted above with Rci.

Just to clarify a bit more

Mark, I just checked with II about their policy, and you have 2 years from the checkin date of the week you deposit to check into the received exchange week. I gave them the example of deposit of a week 3/29/08-4/5/08 and the rep stated I would have to check in by 3/29/10 and check out by 4/5/10. Is that consistent with the SFX policy? Just wondering, as this policy has always been unclear to me for all of the exchange companies.

And RCI runs to the end of the month of your deposit. My July 2nd, 2007 deposit was valid to July 31, 2009.

I never seem to be able to keep weeks long enough to actually worry about them expiring so don't know who is a little bit flexible and who is not.

Calgal - thank you for your post. That is also consistent with SFX. However... If there are any SFX promotions, if you deposit for example a qualified 2008 week, one of several benefits is, we will give any unused weeks in your SFX account a 1 year extension beyond it's expiration date. Giving you more time to use your accrued weeks.

                        Mark,
So if I have a bonus week that expires on 3/1/08, the week that I book needs to have a check-in date by then, correct?
                        Bill

Hi Bill - whether it's an exchange week or a bonus week, all travel must be completed by the expiration date. Hope this helps...
