  • President's Week 2007- Too early or too Late?

When I put in our requests for President's week, I told my hubby he may get a call right away.....Unfortunately it didn't happen. I have no choice but to be limited in my dates, but do I need to look at more locations? We asked for - don't laugh!! - the Carib or Palm Springs. We want a location with temps at least in the low 70's. I'm getting a little antsy as I watch the sold out flights appear when I do a search for airports. I've got a lower power unit I can use to get to Orlando -again - but, I'm still hoping.
On the other hand, if I'm out of luck for Feb, what about Western Ireland for next July-August?
    Talk about changing lanes.
    Whay do you all think?

Eileen - thank you for your post. As with all exchange companies, if you are placing a severe restriction for just the major Holiday weeks, for prime quality resorts in prime time... the Demand is higher than the Supply of space. You are almost setting yourself up to fail.

Owners at resorts always have first pick of reservations at their home resort, and the Holiday weeks get booked first, typically for Owner use. I am not saying major Holiday weeks don't become available, what I am saying is because of all these factors, Holiday weeks in high quality resorts have the least results for exchange with all exchange companies.

Again... Western Ireland in premium demand time, in an area where there are a couple of small properties, in a location that only has about 3 months a year of decent weather.... the chances although possible are extremely minimal. Anywhere in Europe during peak Summer time needs as much Flexibility as possible with locations and dates. Obviously the chances are greater if you are requesting a place that has many resorts rather than a place that only has about 4 resorts in the whole country like Ireland. Spain is the easiest exchange in Europe as there are more resorts in Spain than anwhere else. It's all about numbers.

The exchange system is predicated on availability, and your ability to be reasonably Flexible on both travel weeks and locations. This is an industry standard.

      Thanks, Mark,
At least you're not saying "forget it" yet ! Until we retire, we're stuck with the school calender. But, you see, everybody here says you SFX people walk on water! We'll hang in there until we find some great airfares and then go to plan B. I'm adding some other warmish areas to my wish list.
