  • Giving away a bonus week?

    Hi, Mark,

Over on "the other board" there is a thread about SFX. One point that came up is that several people have bonus weeks that are probably going to expire without being used.

Is there any way to give a bonus week away to a friend? I mean, without going through the whole shebang of asking the friend when he would like to travel, getting all the money to pay for the bonus week upfront from the friend, putting in the request, waiting for the request to come through, confirming with the friend that the week is okay, la la la.

If the friend is an SFX member, would it be possible to just transfer the bonus week over from my account to his account?

    Thanks!

    Best,

    Wacky

    Hi Wacky - Yes.

Just simply advise us the name of the person and their SFX account number, and we can transfer the bonus week from your account to theirs.

Another idea... some Members use their Bonus Weeks as fund-raisers. I did one a few years ago for the Monterey Children's Kidney Foundation... it raised $7,000.

Joan - you would simply give the winner an SFX Guest Certificate, and they could place a request with us for a week.

Or you could book a week with us perhaps several months ahead of time obviously at a popular destination, and present them with an already booked unit.

Bonus weeks are incredible fund raisers !!

Any chance of getting an extension on a bonus week if we give it to a nonprofit? The local public library group is having a fundraiser at the end of September and I would be delighted to give them a guest certificate, but I don't know if anyone could use it before December 31.

          Thanks for the quick responses!

I will see if anything can be done. Basically we are contracted whereby we cannot extend Bonus Weeks, but I can ask if anything can be done.

Just think... all the bonus weeks people cannot use because of time constraints, if they were used as Fund Raisers for Charities, especially those for children... wouldn't that be great !!

Just another example of why SFX beats the daylights out of RCI!

How do you get a guest certificate?

Sorry for this basic question, but I don';t see it on the web site? Is there a fee?
                THANKS

Ronandjoan - thank you for your post. If we are given the guest name at the time of booking, there is no charge, it's free. If there is a name change of the guest after the time of booking, then it's only $39 for the name change and guest certificate.

                    Mark,
Does the normal $399 fee to reserve a bonus week apply to these instances?

Bill - Yes, the bonus week fee would be still be required. Also, I believe charitable donations may be a tax deductable item.

Bonus week gift is set up

                          Mark and everyone
                          I've got it set up!
The non-profit's raffle tickets are being printed and the drawing will be New Year's Eve.

Which would be easiest to do?

Go ahead and buy a guest certificate and then they do the booking, or request that they jion SFX and then be able to book themselves (is that hoew I understand the above posting)?

I see that either of those might be easier than me getting involved with their possible booking delimmas.
                          Thanks for the idea!

                            Hi Joan -

May I suggest wait until you find out who the winner is. Then ask them what date range and locations they are interested in, then for you to go online in your SFX account and place the requests on their behalf along with the guest's name. Having their name upfront will save you the guest certificate fee of $39 as a result of changing the name after the request is made.

                            Hope this helps...
