  • Washington DC Area

    Greetings All,

I wanted to inquire if there were any timeshares in the Washington D.C. area, and if there are, does SFX deal in any of them? I tried emailing the question in to vacations@sfx-resorts.com, put in a request (169352), and even sent a followup email referencing the request to see if it was even possible to fill and never once received any followup on the request or email inquiries. I realize it was likely a long shot at best, but it would have been nice to at least get some feedback.

Until recently there were only 2 timeshares in the DC area Wyndhams National Harbor and Wyndhams Old Town Alexandria.

I dont know about SFX, I dont do much trading, but Wyndham is affiliated with RCI, and I dont even know how a week at a Wyndham resort can show up in SFX.. In ant case Alexandria is very popular among Wyndham owners and doesnt show up in RCI much if at all.

Marriott now has a presence at the Old Mayflower Hotel so perhaps thats a possibility and I believe another hotel branded timeshare has done something for their timeshare owners at another hotel property in DC

Bottom line There is just not a lot to trade into in DC If I wanted a timeshare vacation there and didnt own Wyndham, Id be trying to find a Wyndham owner to rent from

Washington Area is hard to get. There are not a lot of options and when the do come available they go quick, and to ongoing searches.

Ron - Thank you for your post. The answer is very simple; A Wyndham member chose to deposit their week/points with SFX for their exchange. We have thousands of WVO members who use our exchange service.

Gandalf and Ron are both correct.... it is very difficult to get an exchange into Washington D.C. There are only a couple of properties, and the demand far outweighs the supply of space on a constant basis. We do get some deposits in D.C., but as with all exchange companies, never enough.

                Thanks,

I have exchanged into Wyndham resorts with SFX. Affiliation is not an issue with SFX.

I know I cant deposit my Wyndham points with SFX or any exchange company except RCI and I suspect that Wyndham doesnt deposits anything with SFX (in that Wyndham owns RCI) . So how does anything get deposited to SFX

I guess that I make a reservation and make that reservation available to SFX, but how do you get the other parties name on that reservation...ie who pays the $99 guest confirmation fee?

By the way. If I was to deposit a few National Harbor or Old Town reservations, to SFX, can I rent what I get in exchange?

Im not concerned about how you get a Wyndham week out of SFX, My question is how do I get one into SFX

As a Wyndham points owner, I cant transfer my points to anyone, so I know Mark @SFX is wrong when he says I can. So how is a week at a UDI property like National Harbor made available for an SFX exchange?

Perhaps I can make a reservation and name SFX as my guest but then how does SFX get their exchangers name on that reservation

Ron - Thank you for your post. .........."I know I cant deposit my Wyndham points with SFX or any exchange company except RCI"............... This is not correct.

In trying to help you have a better understanding, let me start by saying you have the right to assign/deposit your time for exchange purposes with any exchange company you want (assuming they will accept what you have). The freedom to choose a service which is distinct and separate from your product purchase comes under the protection of various Antitrust laws. (I could state chapter and verse in the Sherman Act, but we can save that for another time).

We have many Wyndham members use SFX as their choice for vacation exchanges.

                          1. You first reserve a week's worth of points (in at least a one-bedroom unit).
                          2. You now have a reservation with an arrivaldeparture date, and a reservation number.
                          3. You login to your SFX account and fill out a deposit form with this information... and click Submit.

We then send your deposit form over to WVO for verification of the information you submitted. You then get a notification from SFX your deposit has cleared... and you can now place a request for your vacation exchange. When we have a member that matches to your deposit, we send the name of the inbound guest in to WVO. There are a handful of WVO resort that have a slight variation to this process, but for all practical purposes this is the general flow.

                          It's really that simple!

If you have any further questions, I will be delighted to respond.

                          Thanks,

so I dont have to pay the guest confirmation fee that wyndham charges? and can I can deposit any week, Is that correct?

or would I get a better exchange rate if I deposited a week that another of your members is looking for (like the subject of this thread National Harbor)

I still think Im correct, I cant deposit "points" to SFX, like I can with RCI,, I understand what you are saying, depositing a week is effectively depositing points.... but it not the same thing> Different weeks cost me a different number of points, for example, will a week at National Harbor (2 bedrooms = 250,000 points) get me the same thing in exchange as a week at the Nashville resort (2 bedroom=154000 points)? If so why would anyone deposit a National Harbor week?

Is that a possible explanation for the lack of National Harbor weeks in your system
