  • Platinum 1 year vs. 3 year vs. 5 year

I'm not clear on whether the 1 year for $89 is still available, nor what the advantage of the 5 year membership except that it is $6.53 a year cheaper than the 3 year.

The cancellation protection for 5 year has been discontinued.

Stan - Thank you for your post.

The annual Platinum Membership is available at $89 per year.

The 5 year plan is available at $299... (average cost of $59.80 per year). A savings of $146.

    PLUS...

Should you cancel your exchange less than 30 days prior to arrival, the week reinstatement program that we normally charge $39 per exchange, is still part of this program.

This represents a savings of $195, plus $146 saved against the one year membership. (Total savings of $341 over 5 years).

Comparing 3 to 5 years... the savings are; a 3 year membership costs you an average of $66.33 per year vs. $59.80 for the 5 year. BUT, with the 3 year, there is no resinstatement of cancelled weeks which is another $195 savings you would get with the 5, plus the peace of mind of not losing any weeks due to unforeseen circumstances.

A 5 Year Platinum Membership is the best value for money.
    Hope this helps.

      Thank you

      Mark,

When I called SFX while you were on vacation, I was told the cancellation protection was being re-evaluated and was not available at that time.

That was why I was questioning the 5 year vs. 3 year membership

The $89 one year was mentioned in the forum here, but I couldn't find it on the website.

      Thanks for your help.

        Mark,

So for those of us who signed up for 5 year plat back in June, is the cancellation insurance still in effect? I am interested in placing a request but my father is undergoing a series of test for his heart and those results can impact the plans. I think the request may be a little hard to fill so wanted to get it in to get in the queue.

Hi Mary - For those who signed up for Vacation reinstatement, they are still covered by this program. A new program still under evaluation may be announced soon, but this will not impact any pre-existing programs.

          Hope this helps...

            Mark,

I thought when I signed up for 5 year Plat in June, vacation reinstatement was part of the standard Plat features at 1 week per year rather than something you have to sign up for. That is the reason I choose 5 year over the 3 years. Can you verify that and get back to me please?

            Thanks,
            Mary

Hi Mary - You are correct. There is no need for additional sign up for this feature on the 5 year Paltinum Preferred Membership.

                Hope this helps...

I spoke with an SFX agent this week and she knew nothing about any insurance plan (for one week per year), even for Platinum members. Is it still in efect?

also, it is not for bonus weeks, we found out last year when we had to cancel one due to a death in the family

Guess I still have a question about the 5 yr Plat membership that said originally we got 1 week a year of insurance. Is that still in effect since you have a new insurance company?
Thanks again for all the good answers you give here!
