  • Hershey Suites in June 2007

    Hi Mark,

I would like to stay at Hershey Suites in PA during the week of June 22 - 29, 2007. Would you be able to let me know the liklihood of success? Should I submit a trade soon for this?

    Thanks

Hi Amanda - thank you for your post. Regardless of which exchange company you use, historically the odds are probably very low.

    Let's talk about "why".

If there was only one timeshare resort in Orlando, how difficult would it be to secure a reservation in premium demand Summer time for just one specific date?

A rhetorical question of course to make a point. We have an almost similar situation. There is only one timeshare resort in Hershey, a famous town and extremely popular during the Summer Holiday period when kids are out from school. As another poster mentioned, she didn't see one unit from that resort for the whole Summer in RCI's online availability.

I know you are new to timeshare exchange and there is a learning curve to go through. In this specific instance, you have selected one specific resort in one specific area for one specific date in the most demanded time of the year.

With these kind of restrictions, although possible... the odds are stacked way against you because the Demand is drastically higher than the Supply of space.

For there to be a reasonable assumption for results, you should (if possible) have a reasonable degree of "FLEXIBILITY" on both travel weeks and locations. If you are rigid on a specific week in premium demanded time, and one or two specific resorts only... you are almost setting yourself up to fail, especially if you want premium demanded time. If you can travel in the lower demanded seasons of the year, then you can afford to be a little more specific.

Here are some tips to make the system work for you...

    1. Select a range of acceptable travel weeks instead of one or two specific weeks.

    2. Select alternative locations. Have a Plan A and B.

    3. Avoid major Holiday weeks.

    4. Try not to pick an extremely popular place that only has one or two timeshare resorts. The more resorts in an area, the greater the possibilities for results. Certain areas are much easier to book than others. It's all about supply and demand.

The more restrictions you place, the less likely there will be results. Be as Flexible as you can, it makes a big difference.

Mark I had heard that they are buiding new units in Hershey. Any news on when they will be done?

Hi Frank - Sorry... I don't have any information as to when they will be done. Usually when a developer has new units, they assign a large percentage of them to their marketing departments so they can fill them with prospects to attend presentations.
