  • Changing a request

Mark, I'm sorry if I'm misquoting you. I can't find your post. But if I remember correctly, some time ago you said that if we changed a request, its date of request would become the date that we made the change because if it retained its original date of request, that wouldn't be fair to other members who had already requested those areas/dates. I think that's a good policy.
But what if I need to make a request more restrictive? What if, for example, I have a request in for Hawaii for the entire month of September. As time goes on and the request is not yet filled, my plans begin to firm up and I can no longer travel during the first week of that month. Will I lose my place in line by changing my request to include only the last three weeks of September?

Timetraveler - thank you for your post and excellent question. By shrinking the window that includes the original dates you requested, will keep your place in queue, as per the dates you originally submitted your request.

Mark...I sure wish I'd known that. In the past, I have canceled, and re-requested the same resorts for different time frames. Rats! Now I have to figure out what you mean by "shrinking the window"... Jean

Jean - apologies for not being very clear. Shrinking the window of time requested is exactly what you did. In other words if you were requesting any one week within let's say a 3 month period, and later changed that to any one week within a 2 month period, and that 2 month time-frame was within the original 3 month window... that is shrinking the window (just my terminology).

That will also maintain your place in queue as it includes the original dates (and location/s).

        Hope this helps...

We've certainly enjoyed our SFX exchanges so far. NYC was especially awesome! Jean
