New SFX directory

Initial tests have given these results.

ADSL Speedtest returned speed immediately prior to test of 3.8Mb.

Load of Home Page - almost instantaneous.
Access to front page i.e. Page with Golden Gate pic. Almost instantaneous.
Access to Directory Home Page - 25 seconds on first attempt, 15 seconds on second attempt.
Access to Region e.g. Europe / Canada approx 7 seconds
Opening specific resort info 1 or 2 seconds.

Flash 9.0.16 running
Checks run using Firefox 1.5.0.7

Wackymother - thank you for your post. Are you using the latest version of Flash Version 9? If not, you may want to consider downloading it and see if it makes any difference.

Ironically I viewed our web on Firefox (instead of our standard Explorer) and found our regular web pages loaded much slower in Firefox, and the directory loaded significantly faster in Firefox (go figure !!).

There was a lot of consideration given to loading time using a Flash component. We have only had a handful of people (Less than .5%) state the load time of the director was slow. So far 95.5% have reported excellent speed for loading. Of course we will see if there is anything more that can be done to tweak it for speed.

We are also producing an HTML version shortly that will load even quicker

Under Resort Directory/Hawaii you have all the resorts in black except
Royal Kuhio/Vacation Leisure, which is in crimson/red and bold, like the names of the Islands.

Under Resort Directory/Florida you have a misspelling. You have "Floriday Keys". Too many Margaritas!!

Slooooooow !!!

Same results as Keith on both my work and home computers which are up to date systems. Using explorer and newly loaded Flash 9.0.

Much better listing. Noticed that a lot ot the links to the resorts do not work. Needs soem work, but you are on the right track.

Caribbean resorts for Aruba, Bahamas, & Antigua are labeled incorrectly.

The flags on the South Carolina map are in the wrong location.

Thought I'd let you know that it loads fast on my Mac using either Safari or Firefox browsers. I've had problems with many Flash sites on my Mac so I'm very glad this one works!

Since I'm already posting here, I hope you don't mind some constructive criticism... here are some items I noticed in Florida: Santa Barbara Resort is in Pompano Beach so should be Atlantic, not Southwest FL; Savoy on South Beach is listed both in Miami (correct) and Atlantic (incorrect). In Las Vegas, is Grand Flamingo Club the same as HGVC/Flamingo?

A comment on your GUI design...nice job! Good use of feedback during loading - both when building the splash screen with the San Francisco Exchange name and when counting up the percent loaded - keeps the user informed/entertained while waiting.

Now I'll check out some more places I want to go

Heidi and all other earlier posts - thanks for the feedback, it is very appreciated. We knowingly launched the Beta 1 version with many inaccuracies and even a bug or two. Beta Version 1.1 will be launched within 14 days. Most of these items will have been "fixed"...

With regards to loading speed of screens... we are now getting 97% response of good fast loading times, and 3% of slow loading. With the assumption the slow loads are from people with up to date computers with good power, we do not have an explanation why their machines are loading slowly when so many others report fast loading

However, within a few weeks there will be an HTML version (non-flash) directory.

Please keep letting us know when you find more need to fix items.

Is it DONE? I see the resorts have moved into the correct locations (at least Aruba). Can we start looking to see what SFX has available, or is there more to come? I like the new directory, and only takes ~5 secs. to load!

The three Kelowna resorts in the Canada section still need to get moved out of Whistler. They are Manteo Beach Club, Grand Okanagan Resort, and Lake Okanagan Resort.
