  • Trading power and FF related Question

    Mark,

Firstly, thanks so very much for participating here. I appreciate it and as a result am exploring SFX options. I hope it is time well spent for you and SFX also. I need some clarification however as I may not understand the system. I get the prime time concept but wonder if some time is more equal than others (with apologies to Orwell). I posted a question or two concerning this in another forum here and probably the best thing I can do is copy it in part here for you to comment:

"1) Within SFX does a prime time deposit trade for another prime time deposit, regardless of location or date in the range.

1(a) Or, do they assign some trading power to each of the weeks in the range and I suppose location too."

Secondly, my other questions are specific to the Fairfield program.

    1) You published a list of FF resorts that are acceptable for deposit and exchange, I think in a June message, is that still the current list as you said it may be subject to change.

    2) I gather generally acceptable deposits are GC/II 5*, 1BR plus in certain locations.

Fairfield has various types of 1BR units. Within the FF system some are less desirable than others and use less points to reserve. My cheap gene would want to use the least amount of points to reserve a unit to transfer to SFX.

Could you also comment on these too.

SFX: 1 (a). Trading power is formulated on multiple facets... season, unit size, amenities, supply vs. demand for location and dates, how far in advance the member banked their week... and some other elements.

Secondly, my other questions are specific to the Fairfield program.

    1) You published a list of FF resorts that are acceptable for deposit and exchange, I think in a June message, is that still the current list as you said it may be subject to change.

SFX: It probably is still the current list. However, during the next few weeks of beta testing of our new directory, the lists will be reviewed and then on an ongoing basis.

    2) I gather generally acceptable deposits are GC/II 5*, 1BR plus in certain locations.

SFX: We fully understand the motivation to create as much leverage as possible depositing the minimum amount of points and trying to withdraw something greater than deposited.

However, we also understand there may be some "1 bedroom units" that in reality are junior suites /large studios in certain resorts, and in some instances those are lock-off portions of a two bedroom unit. As a general rule we will not accept those units, only the larger actual master side of the property. We want the system to be as fair as possible to protect the integrity of our business model and provide the best possible resort experience for our Members.

    Hope this helps...

Yes, it helps greatly, and I'll explore further.

Trading Power, I'm glad it exists, and some other elements also enter into it.

The FF unit designations, I admit I do get confused, I don't want to stay at every FF resort to know the difference between a IBR A, a 1BR B and a 1BR or an A and B combined to a 2BR for that resort or if they form part of a 3 BR.

Hence my questions. I see many posts asking if SFX will accept a .... Since the list of acceptable FF resorts is relatively small I would think some guideline of usually acceptable units is not too much to ask.

Some disclosure along the lines of .. historically we have accepted deposits of .. depending on market conditions..we

Also, just to touch upon the value for money issue, I don't feel as if I am unusual, I'm asking questions to see if something may be of value to me. It may not be of value to SFX to do business with me, and that is fine too.
