Ironically, and sadly, after <9> months of waiting, I finally, on 2/14/07 , cancelled an exchange request for the Fairfield Waikiki for our niece's honeymoon in March due to lack of availability or a response with alternatives. Guess what showed up on the sell-off list? Anyone who's read it knows. Oh, well, they'll be staying at a nice cottage in Kaneohe instead...

You cancelled a request and it showed up THAT VERY SAME DAY on the sell-off list?

Wish I could say that were exactly true, but 3 weeks (or more) showed up with a checkin day on the day we had requested for a check-out. I thought it ironic that all of a sudden there was a surplus of FF Waikiki when we hadn't heard a peep for 9 months. I only mention this because our request and the weeks offered are during a period of spring break/Easter when it might be difficult to obtain availability. The published weeks mean there was in fact some availability and/or surplus.

As our request was narrow in scope, date-wise, due to being a honeymoon gift, I'm not specifically disappointed; mainly a general disappointment with how the process went. Since this is more of an account-related issue, I'll leave it at that, but did wish to note an interesting datapoint with relation to the sell-off list. Even if that list had had the exact dates and location that we desired, I wouldn't have been able to request it, simply because, being only 5 weeks from the honeymoon, we had to get something booked for our niece, and we did. It's mere coincidence that I cancelled the request on 2/14 (Valentine's Day, how wierd), oblivious to the sell-off list being published. The world is an interesting place

Hi Pat - thank you for your post. Actually those two units that were published on the Vacation Sell-off list were for the week after the week you had requested.

Normally you would have been offered that week after as an alternative, however you had specific instructions in your request there was "No Flexibility" on travel as it was for a honeymoon, and that was also a "Spring-Break" Holiday week in Hawaii... an extremely difficult request as demand is drastically higher than supply with all exchange companies.

We're sorry space did not become available for that specific week, and we know there were special honeymoon circusmstances... but as I always preach, the golden rule of Flexibility on travel dates usually works in your favor.

We look forward to receiving your next request and sending you on a great vacation.
