How does SFX contact members with a match?

This makes me wonder if there is something wrong with my account information. I've had ongoing searches several times now, often for months at a time, and have never received an e-mail about the status of my request. I figured I would hear - eventually - if something was available. But never have I received status reports every 6-8 weeks, which would be very helpful. Do I need to do something differently?
