  • Platinum 18 Month Search

    Mark,
    In another thread you state "As most people know, most timeshare space does not become more than one year in advance. There are a very small percentage of resorts do open up their space up to 2 years in advance, but that is a tiny percentage. .........that has nothing to do with "search time" which is essentially a one year window. This is standard 101 timeshare stuff."

    Is the touted 18 month search benefit of Platinum membership a very limited benefit then?

    Not a complaint; only a question for consideration at renewal time.

    I'm sure Mark will jump in, but it seems to me that the opportunity to queue up at 18 months rather than 12 gives Platinum members a priority over Gold in terms of the date requests are placed...

      zdxlc9p6 - Thank you for your post... Excellent question. No, it's far from a limited benefit. I will give you an example;

      One may ask, if most resorts do not allow space to become not more than one year in advance, then what's the benefit of having a request placed 18 months in advance, if there will be almost no possibility of an inventory match, and I am just hanging around for 6 months wasting time??

      Answer... By having a reach of 18 months in advance, you get to prioritize yourself in a queue. So when the 12 month window opens up, and your request becomes "Active", you are in a much higher position in the queue.

      Hope this helps...

        Somewhat like lining up for the Black Friday Specials, or the first one at church gets to pick the pew of his choice.
        Thanks Mark & Glitter for pointing out what should have been obvious to me.

          Hi Mark, another question regarding the 18 month rule for requests. Let's say I want to travel anytime June to August of 2008. I will request at 18 months out for the first week of June (in Jan 2007). At this time, it only allows me to request the first week of June. Do I need to keep coming back each week to add weeks until I get to request August 2008 or can I just put the end date in the comment box and say that I can travel anytime all summer? Do I make sense? Thanks.

            blr666 - good question. At this time, you would need to go in as needed to keep reaching into an 18 month window as it opens for the time span you wish to request.
