This is my first posting on the SFX Forum ( just signed op to join) A question (and hopefully it's not a bore to all )
I own 3 weeks at Marriott Marbella ...one silver , two gold. When I deposit with SFX will they be deemed the same value in their system or should I use a gold to "seek" a difficult trade like say New York .
    Thanks G

Given the timeshare situation in NYC, you might be better off considering a Marriott point strategy and getting into one of their hotels. The RI near Times Square has decent sized rooms with full kitchens if you need more space than a hotel room.

Another strategy might be a direct exchange with someone who owns in NYC and wants to go to Spain.

I'm saying this because, if you're looking in a location with limited options, like NYC, especially with a fairly narrow date range, you're likely to be disappointed. Personally, if you wish to use SFX, I'd suggest getting a Platinum membership and doing a request-first exchange, if that fits your time parameters. You'll have less trade power than with a deposit, but you'll also still leave your options open if they don't perform.

Hi Irelands Call - Thank you for your post. Congratulations on your ownership, it's a great resort.

NY has extremely limited timeshare space. The best strategy is to be as Flexible as possible on travel weeks, and deposit the highest possible trading power you can from your property. The whole exchange system is all about "Supply vs. Demand".

I would recommend depositing at least a one or two bedroom unit for any week between June through September.

If you trade internally as Pat suggests, that is one option... but then again you would lose out on our 3 weeks for 1 promotion. The other suggestion of a direct exchange with someone want's to trade their NY for your Spain ... problem there is, it's very easy for NY to get Spain as there is a massive oversupply of space in Spain.

The key is, a prime time deposit, and your ability to be Flexible.

Question: How Flexible can you be? What time-range works for you?
