Gym at the Grand Mayan

Hi Mark

Was SFX aware the Grand Mayan Riviera Maya charges exchangers $10 per person per day to use the gym facilities? My wife and I workout 6 days a week and we just found out about this from the concierge at the GM. We leave for Mexico tomorrow and needless to say we aren't happy campers about this added expense .

We were in Nuevo Vallarta Easter week thanks to SFX and I thought I had to pay also and did not go for other reasons (I hurt my toe on a lounge chair) I went to the gym the last day to shower before we left and the receptionist there told me there would be no charge if I wanted to work out. At the Grand Mayan Nuevo, they had two colors of wristbands ours were gold others were silver.
Maybe they treat SFX exchangers different than RCI??

We were also at the GM Nuevo Vallarta over Easter. We exchanged through RCI. Our wrist brands were gold. I was told that owners got silver. My wife wanted to use the work out facilities and we paid 500 pesos ($50 USD) for the week, which allowed her to use the facilities and take as many classes as she wanted. Otherwise, it was 100 pesos per day and 100 pesos per class.

We have found that we have been treated much better at the Grand Mayans and HGVC/Flamingo than exchangers with RCI. I thought it was because of SFX, but then again, maybe it is just our charm.

John - maybe it is because of SFX, and we are too humble to admit it

Then again, it's amazing how far you can get with a little charm. Staff at resorts are generally under a degree of stress, and when people are nice to them, polite and not demanding in hostile manner, it makes a world of difference in how they return the kindness. (Attract more bees with honey, than vinegar).
