  • $200 extra fee for Mexico bonus weeks?

    Hi Mark
Can you explain the rules and policy regarding the $200 extra fee that is assessed when booking a Mexico bonus week?

    Thank you!

Hi Yolanda - What extra $200 fee ? There's no such thing !!! Where did you hear or see this ?

I believe the current fee is advertised at $399 and it has a value of around $1,400 -$1,800... but there is no additional fee of $200 on top of the $399.

    Hope this helps...

Just a long shot but maybe she thinks bonus means "free"? Do the Mex weeks cost 199.00? (I haven't booked one yet)...

I think the word "extra" in the OP's post may have confused Mark (and me too).... I would normally take that to mean an extra 200.00 above and beyond the normal bonus week fee, hence my inquiry..

Hi Pat - I believe they are $399 and have a legitimate value of around $1,400-$1,800.

I was in Tampa on business last week, and a Radisson hotel, which is nothing special just for a basic room was $300 for one night plus tax !!! A basic Hilton hotel room around the corner was $225 plus tax for one night !!! unbelievable.

I am not the OP but she was told it was $399 plus $149 upgrade to a 2BR PLUS an additional $200 for Grand Mayan - was told this was 'assessed' for 'top' resorts' - by the VC she spoke to.....hence the question about the additional fee.

If that is the scenario, that is completely understandable. SFX site states bonus weeks require $149 to upgrade to a 2-BR. They also state that bonus weeks cannot be used for the Grand Mayan. I have learned you can use the bonus week for a GM for a $200 upgrade, which I was willing to pay for NV 10/07 and RM 01/08.

If you are platinum-do you get the free upgrade to 2bd on bonus weeks too-or just the 20.00 discount on the cost of the bonus week -I can't find it on the website.

I am a platinum member, and I must pay the upgrade on bonus weeks, but do get the $20 discount off the $399.

                      Hello!
I've been in class this morning and was unable to log on and clarify my question.

When I was offered a bonus week at The Grand Mayan Riviera Maya in Cancun, I was told it was $399 + $149 (upgrade to 2-bedroom) + $200 extra. I was surprised about the $200 and I wanted some clarification on this.

Which resorts are affected by this extra $200? I didn't know anything about this and it just took me by surprise.

                      Thanks.

StressCadet - no free upgrade to a 2 bedroom unit. Yes, you still get the $20discount off the bonus week when booked.

                        Hope this helps...

zdxlc9p6 - You only pay the upgrade fee on bonus weeks if you are requesting a 2 bedroom unit up from a 1 bedroom unit; A Holiday week; In certain instances for premium resorts that normally do not meet bonus week criteria.

You still get the $20 discount off your Bonus week when booked.

Hi Yolanda - thank you for your followup.

There are certain premium resorts that as a general rule are not offered as Bonus Weeks. On rare occassions there may be over-supply of space, and the unit offered for a nominal additional fee above standard pricing.

Our standard pricing is $399 for a one-bedroom suite as a Bonus week. This has a realistic value of around $1,400 to $1,800.

There is an additional upgrade fee of only $149 if you want a 2 bedroom unit. This is our standard offering pricing structure.

                            Hope this helps...

                              Mark-
Thanks for the reply. I'm fine with the extra fee if it means getting a premium resort. I'd rather be offered the resort and pay extra, than it not be offered to me at all.

I was just trying to understand it - it really was a surprise to me.

Thanks for the information. I appreciate it.
