I had a similar problem at Wyndham Grand Desert in Las Vegas. I always call the resort a couple of days before I go to confirm. They did not have me on their list the day before I was to arrive. However, the resort told me that as long as I had the confirmation document from SFX, they would have to honor it. SFX called them and straightened it out though I was registered as a "Guest of owner" rather than an exchanger.
I learned a long time ago to always carry any e-mails or documents containing reservation confirmations, etc with me whether it be timeshares or hotels, etc.John

We had the same experience at the Sheraton Desert Oasis in Mar but we did have our SFX confirmation with us. It seems we were also registered as guests of the owner. If this happens make sure that they have your name recorded as occupying that unit. We missed a couple of phone calls from friends as they were told we weren't registered. The resort did send us some chocolates and an apology card. They also gave us a couple of 50% off hotel coupons.

This is why we have a policy that asks our Members to call the front desk of the resort directly around 72 hours in advance of their arrival. If you call further ahead than 72 hours, there is a good chance your information hasn't been sent to the front desk from central. They typically wait unit around 72 hours before it's sent in.
Please keep in mind, no matter which exchange company you use, even with a confirmed reservation there is always the possibility of unforeseen circumstances that may affect your reservation. So... this is why it is extremely important to call the front desk around 72 hours in advance and "Reconfirm".
If they do not reconfirm you 48-72 hours in advance, then there is reason to contact us and if there is any problem we have enough time to fix it. This common sense also applies to hotel, airline, etc. reservations.
Hope this helps...

Spence,
Did you get the Wyndham Nassau Crystal Beach for New Years checking in Dec 31 from DAE? I deposited that specific week with DAE so not sure if you got that week or now. RHC is sometimes a pain in the neck. I deposited a Powell Place week with SFX and RHC told them that there was problem with it It ended up being their screwed up admin at RHC.
How did you like Wyndham Nassau? I was thinking about giving that a try sometime.Traveling Broadens the mind and I want to do more French Quarter Fest in New Orleans is my favourite festival

Hoc,
Glad that your issue was cleared. I am glad that SFX really came through with the support since I have signed up with the 5 year Plat membership and I think I have something like 10 regular weeks in our accounts plus a number of bonus weeks.Traveling Broadens the mind and I want to do more French Quarter Fest in New Orleans is my favourite festival

My impressions of the Fairfield Alexandria are that I am ambivalent. The first night, we were in a very nice room. Faced a brick wall, but the room itself was quite nice, and clean. However, we had been told that we would be downgraded the second night, due to the resort being busy. Because we did not want to hang around on the second day and wait for them to find us a room the second night, they told us they would move our stuff.
When we got back on the second night, we asked and the woman at the front desk said that they had not moved us. So, we went up to our room, and the keys did not work. We had to go back downstairs, and she then re-authorized our keys. We used them, and there was someone else's stuff in the room!
So, we went downstairs a third time, and she said that she must have been mistaken. In fact, they had moved us. To a dirty shoebox with linoleum countertops, a toy stove, and fairly poorly kept. Then we noticed that one of our bags (dirty clothes) had not been moved. So, we went downstairs a fourth time to figure out where our bag was. We were told that they had no idea, but that they would call the current guests and see if they could find it in the room.
No followup since. Wi-Fi doesn't work anywhere in the resort, lobby or rooms, and the hard-wired computers in the movie room (which closes at 10 pm) don't allow uploads or downloads. However, the location is convenient, not too far from the King St. Metro stop. The 1-week Metro pass I bought works about half the time, and the other half of the time I have to let the person at the booth to let me on or off the Metro.
We had crabs at Quarter Deck restaurant in Arlington this evening. Hard to find, but worth it if you want to hammer away at some crabs.
Spence, I'm in room 404, but don't have much access to email, so feel free to call if you have time. Steve Hochfelsen. I'll be glad to meet you here, or anywhere that is Metro accessible. My girlfriend is with me until Wednesday afternoon, but my schedule is flexible after she leaves.

Fairfield/Wyndam in DC
Just thought I'd throw this in when I saw somebody say they are planning on coming to this area in the future.
Fairfield (actually Wyndam now) is in the process of building a resort on the other side of the Potomac is Oxon Hill, MD. It's a massive 'mini city'. There will be a Gaylord hotel and Convention Center (currently under construction), a Marriott, a waterfront, high end condos, shops, resturants, bowling alley, jazz clubs, etc. The area is pretty excited about it. However, keep in mind that at this writing, the Gaylord is the only building under construction. There is much work to be done.
Upon completion, the Wyndam will have 250 units and 42 'Presidential Suites', in an 11-story building. I am sure it will have very nice views of the Potomac instead of that place in Alexandria. I remember accidentally finding that 'resort' once (it's across the street from my credit union!) and thinking, 'wow, that hardly looks luxurious'...but it's the only one in DC area? They've got a monopoly goin!
You can read more about this project here:
Wyndham Vacation Resort
And here's the link for the whole project:

Fairfield/Wyndam scheduled to open in Spring 09....
Enjoy....
