  • Trading FF/Wyndham with SFX

Hi. I am intrigued with SFX, as it has many properties in places I would like to go.

I am a Fairfield/Wyndham and Silverleaf owner. I notice that you have Silverleaf's Holiday Hills and a number of Fairfield/Wyndham properties. But from the online directory I cannot tell if I would be eligible with SFX.

The week I own with Silverleaf is a Presidential week 29 (2 bedroom lockoff) at Ozark Mt. Resort. I deposited my 2007 year with RCI as one 4/4 one bedroom and one 2/2 studio. With Fairfield/Wyndham I am a points owner. Is it possible to make a deposit to SFX with Fairfield/Wyndham points? And if so, how it is done?

puppymommo - Thank you for your post.

We have many Points Owners use our weekly exchange system. This is a very simple process.

    1. The first step is to call your resort's reservation department and reserve seven nights (1 week increment) of space in at least a one-bedroom sleep 4 unit, preferably in prime season.

    2. The next step; Login to your online SFX account and submit the deposit online.

You will then have two years past the check in date of your deposited week in which to redeem your exchange. (Same as the other exchange companies).

Hope this helps... and hope we can Welcome you today.

Thank you, Mark for your reply about the exchange process with FF/Wyn points.

As for my Silverleaf unit, your website lists Silverleaf's Holiday Hills in Branson. I own a 2 bed lockout week 29 at the other Branson Silverleaf property, but I can exchange my week for a week at Holiday Hills.

What I am asking is, could I do an internal exchange (through Silverleaf) into Holiday Hills and then deposit that week with SFX?

      Thanks in advance,
      Susan

Puppymomo - As a general rule, multi-site resorts allow you to reserve a week within their network of properties and deposit that week with an exchange company, even though that week is not your home-resort.

As long as your resort allows that, then it is fine with us.

          Fairfield points

          Mark
I own 154000 floating Fairfield points at Marina El Cid in Mazatlan...
Depending on time of year, that 154000 points may be good for a 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom lock out at resort. Which would have better trading value in SFX and if SFX had a preference which week should I try to reserve to exchang?? I have not joined SFX yet but am interested in your 3 for 1 bonus offer your are currently running.

          Thanks,
          Paul

Paul - thank you for your post. The highest demand for Mexico is any week between Jan 14 through Easter week. A one bedroom unit in this season would have higher trading power than a 2 bedroom unit other times of the year. Needless to say, a 2 bedroom unit in that season has higher trading power than a 1 bedroom unit.

May I ask how close to the nearest beach the property is?

              Closest to beach

              Mark
Marina El Cid is situated right on ocean...However to get beach you have to take a 1 minute ferry ride across a 400 yard chanel where all the boats are docked...
The Golf Links in Myrtle Beach is about 2 miles from the beach. Resort provides shuttle service to one of their sister properties...

              Thanks,
              Paul

Hi Susan, Mark & other Silverleaf owners,

FYI, I just tried this internal exchange/SFX deposit with Silverleaf and it does not work. I internally exchanged my 2008 Silverleaf Fox River red 2BR for a June 2008 Silverleaf Holiday Hills 2BR. I then tried to deposit the June 2008 Silverleaf Holiday Hills 2BR at SFX and got a "deposit rejected" email from SFX citing Silverleaf claiming that the week was already deposited for exchange. I called Silverleaf and they made it pretty clear that this internal exchange/external deposit strategy will not work. Additionally (this was Shirley, a "Supervisor" I was speaking to), she was unfamiliar with SFX and seemed certain that they only performed exchanges with RCI. When I pressed her on SFX & Holiday Hills, she explained that Holiday Hills was partially developed by a different developer prior to Silverleaf taking over development, so she speculated that maybe SFX exchanges with the pre-Silverleaf owners. I dropped it at that point since it was clear that I wasn't going to get Silverleaf to participate in the SFX deposit.

So, we're going to Branson in June! Not all bad, but too bad that this internal exchange/SFX deposit strategy doesn't work, would give us Silverleaf owners some additional flexibility.

Hi Roger - sorry your deposit didn't work out. We do a huge number of exchanges every year with Fairfield/Wyndham members, whether the week is where they actually own, or if they made an internal trade within the Fairfield/Wyndham network. Had the properties you did an internal trade with, both been Wyndham/Fairfield, it would have gone through.

The supervisor at your resort advised us the unit booked was not part of your ownership and therefore couldn't be processed.

We do thank you for considering us and hope we can be of service to you in the future.
