  • Help for a newbie

I am a new timeshare owner and new member of SFX. I own a floating week (1-50) in Cabo San Lucas (2BR at Hacienda del Mar). I want to trade my 2008 week for something in Vail/Beaver Creek in late-March 2008. I know I need to deposit my week first, but I don't know what week to reserve/deposit. How do I figure out what the most desirable week is so that I can try to book that week and deposit it?

Cody - thank you for your post. The week you are interested in requesting is the Spring Break /Easter week in a premium demand ski week location. Demand for such space is extremely high, and space extremely limited especially for good quality resorts (with all exchange companies), as there may only be about 4 properties between those two areas.

To have even a slight chance for such an exchange, you would need to deposit a week with very high-trading power. The weeks with the highest demand in Mexico are, Easter, Christmas, New Year and Spring Break.

Mark: I had forgotten that I posted this message this summer. I have now booked my 2008 week (Thanksgiving). Will that give me the trading power I need? How do I find out?

      Thanks for your assistance.

Hi Cody - thank you for your deposit. It certainly has a high enough trading power, the only thing that remains is availability at the locations you wish to travel to.

        Hope this helps....

        Thanks,

It's not one of the weeks that Mark initially said you should reserve. Please don't hold your breath at this point waiting for that ski week. Maybe you'll get lucky, good luck!

Cody - Spence is correct. As I mentioned in my earlier post, there is a very low probability of results for a premium quality resort in the Vail /Beaver Creek area this late for late March.

We do not recommend you deposit your week on the basis of having an expectation of exchange fulfillment for this specific request, especially for late March as the last two weeks of March are the Spring Break and Easter weeks.

On the other hand, you still may wish to deposit your 08 week and qualify for our 3 Weeks for 1 Special Offer that expires on 12/28/2007. You could then place your requests for after the first quarter 08 and have a more realistic chance for fulfillment.

            Hope this helps...

Mark, Would you please clarify which offer expires on Dec. 28th, as the website lists different dates.
              Thanks!
