When can Grand Mayan availability be available? How soon should we get our request in if we were interested in GM Cabo or Nuevo Vallarta? What are the chances of getting two exact weeks (one for us and one for our friends - both same check-in day), both 2 bedrooms, for the last week in March 2009?

TKL - thank you for your post. I believe availability opens around 9-12 months in advance. The weeks you have in mind, are Premium Spring Break weeks, and unfortunately we cannot quote or suggest availability for any exchanges at any time. What if an exchange company gives you odds and probabilities of getting your exchange, you bank you week in good faith... and for whatever reason the space doesn't become available !!! That presents all kinds of unacceptable problems.
To even have a shot at this, you would need excellent trading power from your deposited weeks, and there would be no guarantees you would match for that specific resort or date. This is one of the reasons exchange companies express Flexibility on dates and locations... as this promotes higher probabilities for fulfillment. -
TKL: Over a year ago I faced the same question and the solution I came up with was to get the Platinum membership with SFX and do a request first ( I bought a 1 year membership). It worked well I got the exchange I wanted at the Grand Mayan Nuevo for spring break. I have since extended my membership for 3 years. I did have a strong summer week at Carlsbad Inn for the trade. This year may or may not be the same for SFX I don't know. I am just relating my experience and level of satisfaction which was high.Comment
