    Special Rates @ The Grand Baja Resort

    Mark.....This morning, I noticed that SFX was offering special rates @ The Grand Baja Resort, that looked great. However, I was unable to check availability. The website didn't seem to be working, or perhaps, I was doing something wrong.

    I stayed there in July 06 in a 1 bedroom for $499 through an II getaway. It was a great deal. It's a quiet resort lacking in a few areas, but we had a great stay. We loved San Jose Del Cabo.

          Mark: Were you having problems with Grand Baja since you no longer offer that property? We are scheduled thru SFX to go there in November -- will we have any problems?

            Hi Cathy - You will be receiving a letter this week advising you have been relocated and "upgraded" to the new Grand Mayan, Los Cabos.

              What do you mean by upgraded? We had unpleasant experience with Mayan property in Puerto Vallarta (gave us parking lot room that was void of nice furniture) about 2 yrs ago and tried to call SFX but it was Friday night and your people had left. We finally gave up our 2 bedroom for a 1 bedroom to get a nice view room. Will we run into a similar problem?

                Hi Cathy - Grand Mayan is a "significant upgrade" in resort compared to where you were booked. We are sorry to hear about your room placement at Mayan Palace in Puerto Vallarta, the fact is no matter what resort you check-in to, they all have their better views, and not so good views... and this for the most part applies to all resorts, including the Grand Baja. I am not aware of too many resorts or nice hotels that don't have rooms with a view of the parking lot.

                Exchange companies have no control as to what room assignment you are given, as that is in the control of the resort, so we cannot answer the question "will we run into the same problem?", other than it is possible with any resort. But on a "positive" note, the resort is a definite upgrade.

                  Mark: Thank you for your reply. Do you know if the Spa at Grand Mayan/Cabo is up and running? Also I read conflicting comments about free airport transfers. Do they provide transport to/from the airport and if so, are they free? Their website isn't real informative.

                    Cathy, Trust me, SFX is doing you a favor with the switch/upgrade. The Grand Baja resort is not what it seems from their website. It is located between a swinger's resort and a construction site. Read my extensive review on the other site for further details, then send Mark a thank you!!!
