  • Mexico at Thanksgiving

I was wondering if anyone has had experience getting a trade for a Mexico resort for Thanksgiving week (2008) through SFX. We would be flexible on almost any location, but not on the week.

Has anyone had success w/ SFX on that week? Also, what is the weather like at that time? I assume it is past (or at the very tail end) of hurricane season. Would it matter if I was attempting the trade with a Mexico bonus week vs. a regular week?

I am new to SFX, so I don't have any experience with them yet.

    Thanks,
    Kurt

No experience for Thanksgiving week, but I got two Xmas weeks (2007) from SFX bonus weeks, which I would think would be harder.

We have a Thanksgiving week 2008 which we got through SFX using a bonus week, so I would think you won't have a problem.

I am looking to trade my 2008 Thanksgiving week in Cabo San Lucas (Hacienda del Mar). Presidential Suite (sleeps 8). I am looking for a top-level ski resort (Vail/Beaver Creek or Whistler) for Spring Break 2008.

I secured a T-giving week 2008 at Grand Mayan Nuevo Vallarta. It matched within days of my request.....so maybe it's not so hard?
          Good Luck!

Just spent Tgiving in Ixtapa and had gorgeous weather, though a little humid. Everything was green and lush from the rain season which had just ended. The further South, the more predictable your weather will be.

Just a note . . . the weekend before turkey day there were tons of locals at the resorts and on the beach. I was told it was a Mexican holiday. When I asked which holiday, I was told "November 20th holiday." Ahh, of course, I said.

Later found out that Mexico liberated from Spain on November 20th.

Kurt - thank you for your post. I say this respectfully, it doesn't matter how many people may have been booked by us for the Thanksgivng Holiday week in the past, it will have no relevance or correlation to the possibility of being booked for the future. Same with airlines and hotels, as supply and demand, and the odds and probabilities are constantly changing by the minute.

What is in your favor is, there are many resorts in Mexico, and we are close to a year in advance giving plenty of lead-time for positive results. Historically it is just outside of the Hurricane Season.

You would have the choice of using your deposited exchange week, or your Bonus Week.

If this is where and when you want to travel, I recommend logging in as soon as possible to place your request.

              Hope this helps...

Wow -- I started this thread a couple of months ago, and I was surprised it came active again!

Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know that I did indeed get a week that will work for us! I submitted the request with my Mexico bonus week, and a little over a week later I had a 2BR confirmed for Thanksgiving week at Mayan Palace Riviera Maya. Thanks SFX!

This is my first exchange w/ SFX, and I was impressed at how fast the exchange came through.
