  • Enhancements to SFX Website

Mark, I just logged in to the website checking on the status on some exchange requests and noticed the new features to change dates, add more search options, etc. This is definitely an enhancement to the way the previous section functioned! However, I did notice that when I tried to expand on one of my original requests, it did not allow me to do so because of "short time frame - 5 months and high season". I was somewhat surprised about this.

DJ - Thank you for your post. Please pm me what dates and location you tried to add, then I can take a look and respond.

Thanks Mark but I had already deleted my original request as the dates had changed and the system didn't allow the new dates. I think it's too late now. (Besides, I'm a bit gunshy as I don't want a repeat of another thread)

I guess I was more surprised that the system wouldn't accept the request (albeit a holiday week was now being requested). What the system brought up in commentary was what you've expoused in your prior posts about holiday week, specific time frame request, specific area, etc. I know you've stated it minimizes the chances of a match (a fact I'm well aware of), but I was surprised that the system wouldn't allow to accept it. I just wasn't aware of any other exchange company that wouldn't accept a request.

You always post about under promise and over deliever. Perhaps SFX has made the decision that it doesn't set false expectations.

djyamyam - Thank you for your reply. It is perfectly fine to Private Message me with the details of the transaction, and the response will be a pm back directly to you.

I need the details so I can find out why your request was not accepted. When you place a request online, the system gives you advisements of any known difficulty factors, for example if you are requesting a major Holiday week and are not being flexible on travel weeks. These are important advisements to know, as they give you indicators. But, they don't stop you from requesting Holiday weeks. We haven't had any other reports of this, so if there is a glitch, we need to know about it, so we can fix it.

        Please PM me...

        Thanks,

djyamyam - Thank you for your post. With only about 5 months in advance, requests that are for premium demand locations during major Holiday periods, eg. Spring Break, Easter... when we know there is an extremely unlikely chance of space becoming available, because Demand is far greater than Supply industry-wide, rather than accepting the request knowing the probability is "extremely low", we feel it is both the members and company's interest to be direct and upfront with the member and advise them with this information.

It doesn't make any sense accepting such a request under these conditions, as we don't want the member to get frustrated by waiting and waiting for something that will probably not become available. At least this way they can plan for alternative dates and move forward with planning a vacation that has a good expecation of coming to fruition. If it were me, I would want to know in advance, so I can plan accordingly.

If a member still insists on requesting an extremely unlikely request, then we would accept it on the condition they understand and accept the advisement.

            Hope this helps...
