    Mark,
Another question. Is there any discounts available for a every other year timeshare holder for Platinum membership? I think I might like to have platinum but the way it is now doesn't have any benefit to cost advantage to me. If there isn't it's not a serious problem as I still have my Gold at no cost. Just wondering.

Actually, Bob, that's a kinda humorous question. Made me stop & think. I doubt you will get a discount, though.

I have deposited an EOY unit at SFX and got the 2 bonus weeks. That meant I got to use a week on my "off" year. And I have a platinum membership so the trade with a 1 bedroom to 2 bedroom was free.

      Barnsdweller,

For you it may be very well worth it.. I already have a 2 br timeshare; so the upgrade probably would never be of any use to me. I too got the 3 for 1 bonus/exchane weeks. But that is available regardless if I am Gold or Platinum. For me the only real advantage I see would be being able to request ahead 18 months rather then the 12 months. Which I probably would do; but I don't think that would be worth the price of a 3 year Platinum membership. But then again maybe I'm just cheap.

To be honest, Bob, the platinum may not be a good deal for you. The 18 month request is an advantage to be sure. I put in a request for early 2009 and had a call within 3 days for an exchange. So far I've been very happy with SFX. The key for me has been to request with a destination in mind with at least a 4 week window and not a specific resort. I've always gotten something that works for me. My only stipulation is for 2 bedroom if possible and usually I get it. I do like having an 18 month lead time so for me it is worth it.

Barndweller, Mark, after sitting down with a pen and paper, studying the benefits (18 months out, savings on exchange and bonus weeks) I bit the bullet and extended my Platinum membership for 5 years (now I have 6 years of platinum). I guess what made me really take it was the 18 month advance booking. I figure this way I may have another advantage of being able to book airline tickets sooner at either a lower price or possibly use my frequent flyer miles. So even though EOY doesn't get a reduced price for Platinum I think it may well be worth the investment (as Barndweller said).

Bob - thank you for your post, and extending your Platinum Membership. In addition to the 18 month request window, over 5 years.....

            * you save $100 in exchange fees ( you pay $129 instead of $149).

            * If you use one bonus week a year for 5 years, with the $20 rebate you
            save another $100.

            * If you only take one Sell-off week per year (like a bonus week), you get it
for $100 less than Gold Members. Over 5 years that's another savings of $500.

Considering the membership is only $299... you are way-ahead of the game. The savings far outweigh the costs.

            Hope this helps...
