Bob - I believe the only timeshare in Boston is the Marriott Custom House, and it can be very difficult to exchange into. There is very limited exchange availability.

on a some what related topic , are there many TS located in "downtown " cities ? A few in London I know ...but elsewhere?

There's Budapest with 2, Prague with 1, Vienna with 1, Paris with 1 or 2, though not in the heart of the city. Istanbul has 1, Greece has one in Marathon witch is not very far from Athens. There is one near Rome; actually in Italy there are several in or near interesting cities. Florence, Assissi, Venice and Genoa come to mind.

Of course there's New York, Miami, New Orleans, and there is space near Dublin, Ireland, Edinburgh, Scotland along with London.

I'm sure there are many more.

Unfortunately Joy, that is not the case. The per square foot cost of property and operations is cost prohibitive. There are other factors as well. However at the end of the day, they mostly point in the direction of economics.

Developers can build for a fraction of the cost in resort areas, and sustain much higher margins. In resort areas, because of the spread, you can build much larger units and amenities etc. that have a much larger appeal to the buying public, more so to those who like a family style vacation.

City shares, appeal to a defined smaller percentage of the market, that have a different psychographic and demographic than the mainstream timeshare buyer market.
