  • Ongoing request/trading power of deposit

    Mark,

I've had an ongoing request for April for some time now against my 2007 deposit. I'm getting a bit nervous about the likelihood of success given that we are now in the 90 day window, but am hoping something will come through. I understand the limitations of my request in terms of narrow date range, etc...

My question: Since placing the request, I have deposited what I imagine to be a "stronger" week -- prime Caribbean resort for President's week (though my 2007 deposit is Easter week, there is more inventory available in the area)-- should I have switched the request to the 2008 deposit in order to maximize trading power? Would this offset losing my place in the "queue?" Should I bother doing it now at this late date? Setting my specifics aside, what would you advise members in a similar situation?

Hi Glitter - if you would be kind enough to pm me your name and account number, I can take a close look at your request and give you better advisement.

    Many thanks,

Do trade restrictions lift in the 90 day window?

Chellej - not quite sure what you mean... Please clarify.

Just looking at the original OP - his question inferred that
          1. there is a "trade power" assigned to weeks
          2. at some point in time, trade power doesn't matter (i.e. equivalent to Interval's 59 day flexchange)

Chellej - Correct, we do assign trading power to deposited weeks. At 59 days prior to arrivals, trading power becomes irrelevant, because at this point the risk of utilization becomes a higher risk as it gets closer to the arrival date of deposited units, especially if airline bookings are a consideration.

            Hope this helps...

So based on the fact that Glitter's request is under 90 days - would her Presidents week deposit be "stronger" then Easter?????
Would she be more likely to get her request fullfilled if she used the 'more powerful' Presidents week deposit?
Or are President's Week & Easter week the same in trade power.

Pat - I can't go into much detail, because this involves private transactional information about another Member's account. At the end of the day, sometimes all the trading power in the world doesn't mean a thing if there is no availability at the resorts, or other resources. The SW Florida Coastal region (Sanibel, Captiva, Ft. Myers, Marco Is.) is known as an extremely high owner-occupancy area, and usually very difficult to trade into, especially for the nicer properties.

                Thanks,

Advisement = Careful consideration; bet, you mean advice.

Wouldn't it be more consumer centric, Mark, for you to give a generic answer and say that you are sending Glitter Brunello a PM for details and specific answers, something like:

While we don't divulge our proprietary trade power formula, if you think your second deposit has more trade power, why don't you initiate a search with both?

Spence - thank for your post and sharing your personal opinions with us. No, it wouldn't be more "consumer-centric" to repsond with those worldly words of wisdom that you so kindly suggest.

The reason being, we responded directly to our customer with more "detailed Consumer-Centric" information via Private Message because in the public forum, details of confidential and private customer information is not yours or anyone else's business. It's "Confidential" and would be a breach of our privacy and confidentiality clause in our agreement.

So, your "assumption" of lack of consumer-centric response, again is unfounded and has no merit. We are confident your concerns are very sincere about our communications with clients, however, transactions details are not discussed in a public forum.

                    Have a nice day...
