  • Gold vs. Platinum?

    hello,
I am trying to determine which exchange companies to use as a new owner of a (2 BR)TS at macDonald Dona Lola in Spain. Would SFX accept my weeks there (fixed 46 and 47-Thanksgiving)? Also, would my 2 weeks there give me enough trading power for 2 weeks in Cancun Mexico in June 2009?

Also, what is the benefit of going with the Platinum Membership...will it increase my chances for getting the trade that i want?
    thanx!

mamermasha - Thank you for your post. We would gladly accept your deposits for exchange. They would also have enough trading power for Mexico in the months of June.

Platinum will not increase or decrease your chances of exchange fulfillment. The compelling reason to upgrade to Platinum is more so for those who can vacation at least two or more weeks per year.

    For example...

    * You save $20 in exchange fees.

    * You can request your vacation up to 18 months in advance vs. 12 months with Gold.

    * You get $100 off each booking of our Sell-off list get-a-way weeks.

    * Free one size upgrade of unit size.

If you purchased a 5 year Platinum Membership (Best Value), and you only take two weeks of vacation per year (One exchange and One get-a-way rental week). Over the next 5 years you will save $100 in exchange fees, and $500 in rental off the Selloff list (extra get-a-ways).

That's a total savings of $600 and you only paid $299. This is also assuming you didn't even upgrade size of unit as Gold Members have to pay $149 as an upgrade fee.

If you vacation 3 weeks a year, (one exchange and two extra get-a-way rental weeks). Your saving over 5 years is $1,100. Your Platinum Membership cost is $299 for 5 years.

So, the more you vacation, the greater the savings. If you can only vacation one week per year using your exchange week, the only time it would make any sense to be a Platinum Member is if you upgrade from a one to a two bedroom unit every year. If you don't do that, then stick with Gold.

    Hope this helps....

      mamermasha,
I have found the Platinum membership a good value. I have used the upgrade discount several times and the ability to put my requests in at 18 months is a definite plus. It is great that you can join SFX without paying any fee upfront as well. Either way, give them a try. You can do a request first as well, but I believe that will impact you exchange power. You really have nothing to lose.
