  • How often does SFX upgrade unit size?

I notice that if i become a Platinum member, one of the perks besides a $20 decrease in exchange fee from $149 to $129 is a unit size upgrade if available.
Say I request one of the Grand Mayan Resorts between January and March using a 1BR - is it likely to get an upgrade to a 2BR?
Or Cancun Royal Resorts during the same time period......?
    Or London in June ?

Are there areas and time where Platinum Upgrades are more likely???

My understanding is if it is available and you requested it, you'll get it. Even a Gold member can get a unit size upgrade for the upgrade fee.

      GrayFal -

Thank you for your post. The last thing we want to do is imply odds or probabilities of availability that may give you high expectations... with the possibility of space not becoming available. That will make a company look like ****** (cant say the word). Remember I discussed under-promise and over-deliver?

So to stay safe I will say 50/50 (except for London which is way less as there isn't any real critical mass of 2 bedroom units; mostly studio's a and a few 1 bedroom units).

Just like airline seats, hotel rooms etc., timeshare inventory is very fluid and constantly changing.

It's always about supply vs. demand. In this instance there is more availability for upgrades during the lesser demanded seasons than prime time, prime locations and prime resorts. One thing in your favor, there is a lot of quality inventory in Mexico.

      Hope this helps...

I gave SFX a 1BR ski week and was surprisingly U/G to a 2BR in Hawaii last month. Way cool.

With re how the "upgrade if available" works, may a member who deposited, say a 1BR, specifically request a 2BR? or does the member have to request a 1BR or up and wait for a 2BR to be offered?

A Platinum Member can request a Free one-size upgrade from a 1 bdrm. to a 2 bdrm unit. The exchange fee is only $129 Domestic or International.

A Gold Member can request an upgrade in unit size for an upgrade fee of $149 plus an exchange fee of a further $149. It is far more economic to be a Platinum Member.

Please note... you cannot upgrade from Gold to Platinum when the agent is on the line with you offering you an exchange. You would have to upgrade to Platinum prior to your week being offered to you.
