Chances of an exchange

I put in a very narrow request for Scotland in June 2009. This is because it would be for my daughter's graduation from graduate school. The request went in at the 18 month date. I noticed from posts that others are now getting requests fulfilled for that time period. My question, does that mean it is unlikely I will get my request or is it still too early for Scotland requests

Chs225 - thank you for your post, and apologies for the delay, as I missed this one.

No, it doesn't mean it's unlikely at all. Let me clarify...... In most instances, if space is being booked a year in advance, it is more than likely in a location where there is a large abundance of timeshare resorts and therefore much activity with owners banking weeks. These weeks being banked create the availability of space for others to exchange into.

In your particular instance there are some very tough parameters, for example.

Scotland has very few quality timeshare resorts, and only has about a 3 month demanded season every year (June-August). With such a tiny window of extreme high demand, and very very limited amount of space becoming available, and add to that a restricted request with regards to your travel dates, there is high difficulty factor for the space becoming available, no matter which exchange company you use, as demand exceeds supply of space.

Also, in most cases owners cannot deposit their weeks more than one year in advance, and typically most of them do not deposit their weeks straight away, they typically wait (especially as no one is in a rush to pay their maintenance fees) and deposit around 6-9 months prior.

You have requested the most demanded time of the year, with the least availability for exchange. So...... The waiting game begins with the hope there will be a match.

A correctly placed request will have a choice of several locations with a range of dates. We know this doesn't always fit into member's plans. But if you can, we strongly recommend adding alternative locations, and if possible try and expand the dates.
