  • How far in advance can I deposit with SFX?

    Hi,
I was wondering how far in advance I am able to deposit a week 15(usually around easter) at Clowance Country Club in the UK. I have a week in 2008 that I would like to deposit for an exchange in summer 2007 and wondered if this would be possible?

The other question is:If this is allowed then how does this work in relation to the management fees, I will not be notified of my fees for 2008 until the end of Dec 2007 and need my exchange before then.

I have deposited weeks with RCI in the past and received exchanges before the relevant management fees were due for my own week so I'm wondering why SFX operate this differently.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Chiara - (one that radiates and glows in Italian si?). Thank you for your post.

You most definitely can deposit a 2008 week with SFX.

Most exchange companies will not accept a deposit unless the maintenance fees are current because in the event of default of payment the week deposited is no-good, and the member may have received their exchange at another property already. Also, an exchange company cannot use or book a unit unless the fees are current. So until such time the fees are paid, the week has no value and just sits there as high-risk inventory.

This becomes a potential nightmare for exchange companies because it then puts them into the collections business and have to sue the member for damages. Clearly a position no one wants to be in.

However... in this instance you would qualify for a Bonus Week and an exchange. You can deposit the week without paying the maintenance fee until such time it's due. You wouldn't be able to use the exchange until the fees are paid......However, you could use the bonus week for your Summer 07vacation, and the exchange week later.

    Hope this helps...

      Mark,
Si-I'm Scottish but the name's Italian so well done.

Thanks for your prompt reply & this sound's ideal. I've just got a couple of additional questions.
Do I qualify for a bonus week if I deposit just now or do I need to wait for a promotion?
How much does a bonus week cost and can I request one in any Orlando resort or are these limited?

      Thanks
      Chiara

        Mark,
In addition to my question above.I've just checked my paperwork and it's week 14 that I own at Clowance-oops, sorry. Does this make a difference to it being prime time?.This year that week starts 1/4 but in 2008, it will start on 29/3.

Hi Chiara - Prime time is June through September. Unfortunately that wouldn't qualify for a bonus week, but we would gladly accept your deposit for an exchange.

Hope we can be of service to you...

            Mark,
            Thanks for your reply.
My original post stated week 15(a mistake as I have 14) so how would that qualify for a bonus week (as per your original reply) as it doesn't fall within June-Aug either?

This is not a problem though as I didn't think I qualified for a bonus week when I posted my original question. I will definitely exchange with SFX in the future but it doesn't help me this time as I still need a 2007 week before I am able to pay my management fees for the 2008 week I would deposit.

Just occured to me-If my week in the future contains Easter will it then be classed as prime and therefore qualify for a bonus?

              Mark, I'm confused Chiara asked,

When I tried to deposit my 2006 week in June 2005, 7 months before the MF were due, it was refused. I had to call the resort and arrange to prepay the resort's best guess of the next year's MF before SFX would accept my week.
How is Chiara's situation different from mine?

Hi Chiara - Sorry, I thought in your earlier post it was the Easter week. Although June - September is prime time in Europe, so are certain major Holiday weeks which do qualify for a bonus weeks. (Easter week and Memorial Day Week for European deposited weeks). Hope this helps...
