Excluding resorts in exchange requests

Mark,

I am new to SFX and currently entering my first exchange requests. I am concerned that if I enter my exchange request for an area, I am required to accept whatever resort matchs my exchange request and will be charged the exchange fee even if I decline the exchange. My concern is that there are a few resorts that are exchanged through SFX that I would prefer not to exchange to.

A) Is it correct that I am charged the exchange fee for any resort that matches my exchange request even though I decline the exchange and continue the search?

B) How can I exclude resorts that I do not want to exchange into when entering Exchange Requests?

Travelguy - thank you for your post.

A) If it is an exact match by dates, locations and any resort criteria placed by you... then we have done everything you have asked us to do, and an exchange fee is due. If there are certain resorts you do not want to stay at, and you stated so in your request (in the comments box)... and that resort does become available and your other choices don't... that is considered a "near-match" and it will be offered to you for your acceptance or decline. If declined, there is no charge.

B) You can exclude certain resorts by stating so in the comments box in the request screen.

As a footenote: Although SFX is the only exchange company specializing in Crown and 5 Star rated resorts, we do appreciate from time to time there may be certain resorts although 5 star, may not be to your liking or preference. You also have to weigh up the possibility that resort may become available prior to other possibilities you prefer, that may or may not become available.... the point is, accepting that resort or declining it might make the difference between taking the vacation or staying at home. Keep in mind it would never be the equivalent difference between staying at the Ritz or the Holiday Inn.

For prime resorts in prime time where demand is very high, you may not have the luxury of picking and choosing what precise resort you want with a view of the golf course from the bedroom and a view of the ocean from your living room. For the best results you need to be as Flexible as Possible.

If you get too hung up on specifics in the exchange system, it may not work in your favor. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, we cannot make it any clearer... for the best possible results, be Flexible on travel dates and locations... and allow us to find the best available resort either Crown or 5 Star rated, for the area and dates you requested. Every restriction you place outside of those parameters may set the odds and probabilities against you.
