  • Thanks for Napa!

My first exchange ever, and I got a nice set up in Napa, CA. We have one unit for us, and a differnet unit for another couple.

The original plan was to try to use Bluegreen's Select Connections and get one of the SVC resorts, but since that may be hit and miss, I was really happy to get the exchange that we got. We know that we have our reservations and can make our trip plans.

The ladies are making plans for which wineries we will visit, I am looking into the wine train options and looking for flights.

Only 9 months until we leave.

Thanks Mark, and big thanks to Elana.

Thats great congrats!!! I just came back from an exchange thru SFX to Mayan Place in Nuevo Vallarta....other than a less than desirable view, (not horrible view just no ocean, or grounds, sort of parking lot..LOL), had a nice room, great resort and was a good exchange. No biggie on the view cause I go to Coast in Mexico often, so another time I'll have view.....I did try to get a good view though, but usually they are reserved for members, I am a member but this was an exchange....

So anyway....have a great vacation, happy to hear SFX came thru for you on first exchange....so cool!!

If I recall there are very few Ocean views, only half of 2 buildings have it. You might get one if you are a new owner and even then I doubt it. I have seen, With This resort if you go in with RCI you can get bumped into there Sea Garden which is a different resort. This resort was the worst offender of being over booked with RCI and then canceling reservations. I have not heard of a single problem using SFX.

I am an owner at Mayan, so I do get the ocean views when I book thru them...exchangers usually get lagoon, or grounds or parking lot LOL.

Not really that impo to me, but would have even preferred the grounds view even, it wasn't horrible, the view just was over parking lot and empty land sort of... the room and vacation were fine and I go to coast a lot so no big deal. I was pleased with my SFX exchange despite the view. Plus I was scheduled to another resort thru SFX and had gone on a bonus week there and had many problems so they ( SFX) immediately changed me to Mayan, so not complaining....

Oh my...I would really make a stink if I had traded with RCI or anyone into Mayan and got Sea Garden....

I use RCI a lot only cause they seem to come thru most times for me. SFX has come thru, but I think has harder time as I have limited flexibility. But then again I only just a few days ago got RCI to function.....and have not gone on since ,,,afraid..LOL....

I am curious why you chose to exchange into the Mayan Palace rather than the Grand Mayan.

Vinter - Thank you for your post, and your business. If you are into very fine dining, the French Laundry Restaurant is amazing. One of my favorite casual dining restaurants is Travigna in St. Helena.

            Have a great trip...

Mark, excellent suggestion on the Tra Vigna Restaurant. We have looked at the website and the ladies in the party will be setting up a trip for lunch or dinner.

              Looking forward to the trip.

Mark, one of my coworkers just joined SFX on my suggestion. He was very pleased to get NAPA as a bonus week soon after joining and making his 2009 deposit. I will have to tell him about these restaurants.

Actually I was booked at another resort in PV , but I went on a bonus week previous and let us just say it was not a good vacation, so this was also a week I was confirmed as an exchange to, so I emailed Mark and Cory immediately changed me from the other resort to Mayan in NV. Of course I woul dhave preferred the Grand, but it was not a choice given to me and I was just happy to have an availability from the other resort. ( The original deposit was a 2 bedroom Mayan, but only a 1 bedroom was available, so I took it).

I really like SFX, but it just does not work well for me, due to inflexibilty, specific dates needed and such, but they do try....

So if I had been offered the Grand Mayan I would have taken it for sure...oh well...
