Exchange ??

Hi Mark-

Newby with a few more questions.

I have my 2006 week on deposit and will soon be paying my 2006-07 MFs and making another deposit and then putting in for my first exchange request for a 2 week vacation. I have a question that I have been mulling over in my mind.

1) We will be looking to book in a non-prime time frame. We ususally travel to the Caribbean in windows between 4/16 - 6/15 or 10/1 - 12/1. Since SFX only accepts prime time deposits ( which I can provde ) will SFX have a problem supplying exchanges for me during the lower season times that I travel? Or do you have sources other than member deposits from which to pull inventory to meet my needs?

2) Would also like to confirm: When I deposit my spring 2007 week, the 2006 week that I already have deposited will be extended for one additional year?

3) Do you have any advice on how to best request an exchange for two weeks back to back, not necessarily in the same resort, using your system? I was planning on writing it into the coments section on the request form. Is there any better way?

I am interested in your answer, as I will be looking for a week for my parents in Mexico (possibly Cancun), in late October....obviously NOT prime time.

Hi Mark,

I'm also interested in this answer too. We normally don't travel during prime season to avoid crowds and peak airfare prices. We prefer to take vacations after Easter thru early June and late Sept thru early Dec (excluding major holidays).

Is SFX able to secure units at the popular destinations (such as Hawaii, Arizona, California, Las Vegas, New York, etc.) during low season?
Is low season availability about the same, less than or more than what is generally available for prime season?

Patty - Thank you for your post.

SFX: Although as a rule we typically only accept high-season, we book our Members on a year round basis for their exchanges, as per their needs. In acquiring such a multitude of prime space, we are able to negotiate with a number of resources the space we need. If you have a Rolls Royce, you could negotiate with anyone to trade their car with you for a week or two.

SFX: That is correct. A one year extension on existing deposits.

SFX: You would place a request against two individual credits, one at a time. This might be one exchange week and one bonus week, or two exchange weeks etc. Everything is transacted as incremental weekly units of space.

For example one request may be 10/1 to 10/8. The second one may be 10/8 to 10/15. They will show as two weeks requested. It would be a good idea to note in the comments box, you are requesting two weeks, preferably at the same resort, however will accept two different resorts. It usually is a lot easier for an exchange to be secured at two different properties rather than just one. One of the upcoming features currently being worked on will be more user friendly for multiple week requests in the request screens in the login area.

Katie - thank you for your post. As a general rule, low season (low-demand)availability is much more available than high-season (High-demand). In general high-season is driven by weather and school holiday periods. There are more people wanting to travel at these times than other. Keeping in mind the amount of space is globally limited, there is only so much space that exists to meet a market demand that can be greater than supply of space. This is why it is very important to be as flexible as possible with requests for exchanges, especially in a higher demanded season. Members who can travel around Mid April to May, or Mid September through Mid December typically find it easier to get their exchanges as there is less demand on the space.

Hi Avery - the extension only applies to deposited weeks, not Bonus Weeks. Hope this helps...
