That's the thing, Mark. I didn't log in and cancel my request. I specifically called in and had Eliza change/update the request to reflect the new dates.
When I logged in afterwards, I noticed the date for the request had been changed to 4/21 (today.)
Thus, I could have done this myself online by canceling my request and making a new request with the correct dates.
When I called in to have the rep update the request, shouldn't the request date remain the same? It was originally opened earlier in April.
If you change the dates and/or locations of your request... it becomes a brand new request effective as of the day you placed it.
It wouldn't be fair to bump another member that placed their request before you for the same dates and location that you are now requesting.
If you change your request at other exchange companies I didn't think you lose your place in line for your request. I thought with RCI you keep you spot. I thought you want to deposit your week earliy and if you could change your dates you still keep your place. That makes a big difference when you deposit if you are not positive on all your selection.

Kdorward - with SFX, our policy and thinking is this way.
Depositing early adds a much higher Value to your Trading Power for when it comes time for an exchange. It has no relevance to you placing a request then canceling it and maintaining your place in queue for a new request.
We see a rule like that as completely unfair and unreasonable to bump other Members who placed their request before you, for the new location and dates you are now selecting.
For example... You place a request on March 1 for Hawaii June 15, then on March 10 decide to cancel it, changing the new arrival date for Hawaii to July 1.
(This now becomes a brand new request as your earlier request was for completely different dates).
Let me ask you this question... do you feel it would be reasonable and fair, to put you ahead of another Member who placed their request on March 9 (one day before your new request was placed), for Hawaii July 1?

Mark,
What about the situation where you originally place a request for check-in dates of June 15 thru July 1 and then later wanted to limit it to just June 22-July1? That would also be considered a new request when in reality it is just narrowing the original request. Would a vacation guide be able to do that without losing the original date?
Mark,
If you change your request you lose the advantage of the higher trading power by depositing earlier. What all goes into your trading power. Do all resorts pull same trading power or do certain resorts give you higher trading power(ex. hawai). I see your point about changing your request and being fair. But it doesn't seem fair to lose your trading power if you changed your date. You said you can put in multiple dates under the same request to keep your place in the que. Can you put in multiple locations and request o you don't lose your place in the que.

Bellesgirl - Thank you for your post. That would not be considered a new request as it contains dates orginally requested. You would maintain your original place in queue.

kdorward - Trading power has no relevence or relationship to changing your request.
You don't lose Trading Power if you change your date or locations.
Different resorts have different Trading Power. You can place multiple requests, but please don't place them unless you are serious about wanting them. If we find an "Exact Match" for any of the requests you place, you are liable for an exchange fee.
