I finally took the plunge and deposited with SFX after using RCI & II for 15 years. Being new to SFX I would like to know what kind of trading power I have with SFX. I own 8 weeks of timeshare but so far I have only deposited one week with SFX. It is week 27 (July 9 - 16, 2006) at the Resort on Cocoa Beach in Cocoa Beach, Florida. This is a 2-bedroom ocean front unit with a large balcony. I asked for a 2-bedroom exchange anywhere in southeast or southwest Florida for any Saturday check-in on Jan. 27; Feb. 3; or Feb 10th.
I deposited in early February.

I have noticed on previous posts people say they are confirmed as soon as they request and deposit, and others say it only takes a few weeks to a couple of months for their confirmation. When I deposited, the girl did not ask me to pay an upfront exchange fee. Is that a mistake? I know I have only been deposited for 2 months but I would like to confirm other plans and am getting anxious.

What are my chances this request will be filled?

Ljane - thank you for your post. Unlike other exchange companies, we do not require you to pay an upfront exchange fee. You only pay for results.

We are not allowed to quote chances or odds for specific exchange requests. No exchange company knows if or when Members will be banking their weeks, using them personally or renting them out. Having said that, we can tell you historically, regardless of which exchange company you use, SW Florida and Key West have an extremely low exchange fulfillment rate January through Easter as this is Premium Demanded time and the demand for space is far greater than the supply. Key West only has a couple of good quality resorts, and Captiva, Sanibel and Marco have about a 97% Owner Occupancy during that season, as most of the Owners use their time escaping the freeze in the North East.

That doesn't make it impossible. Out of your three choices the SE area of Florida is logically the most likely as there are more resorts and critical mass in that region. I noticed our agent offered you a one bedroom suite at a Marriott resort the same day you placed your request, but you needed a two-bedroom unit.

I know you are anxious to be booked. Most people have not yet banked their 2007 weeks yet, as they haved not paid their maintenance fees to their resort. So, there is a waiting game, especially for premium demanded time. As with other excange companies, sometimes you can be booked immediately, sometime it takes a few days, weeks or months... and sometimes space does not become available for spefic requests and alternatives need to be considered. This is consistent with all exchange companies.
