  • Affinia Dumont in NYC

    Hi Mark,

I was interested in depositing an August 15 - 22, 2009 Affinia Dumont week but was told on the phone that SFX did not accept deposits from this resort. There may be some confusion as this is a hotel that provides a few timeshare units to the Royal Holiday Club (and maybe some other timeshare companies). Based on prior postings, I thought that SFX accepted these deposits.

Has anything changed regarding this resort or should I try again?

    Thanks.

    Sam

Hi Sam - Apologies for any misunderstandings. We do accept this resort, and thank you for your business.

    Have a good weekend...

With a week in NYC you may be better off renting it out and then taking the money and actually renting exactly what you would like for vacation.

      Thanks,

Cindy - I think you will find most people will say the reality is, the money you "might" get from a rental in this instance, doesn't come close to paying for a rental for "exactly what you would like for a vacation".

        Thanks...

That is certainly correct Mark, however, what you "might" get on exchange may not come close to being of equal value to a week in NYC as well.

          Just a thought.

..... and in seeing the glass "half-full" and not half empty, they may get an equal or even a greater value exchange than what was deposited.

            Just thinking out loud...

Well, I've had quite a few of these go without getting rented even at 'reasonable' prices for NYC, considering that, depending on your level of RHC ownership, your MF for the reservation may be between $300 and $600, some people might consider depositing this property. A much better value than the $2000 MF at TMC!!

I also routinely recommend Royal Holiday Club (My fingers can't believe I just typed that- but it's true!) for buyers interested in staying primarily in Manhattan who shy away from the massive fees of the Manhattan Club or the high acquisition cost of HGV New York.

Now if I could only get RHC to actually finish some of those transfers!

The last one I bought from eBay, RHC told the title company that they refused to transfer it to me. I had to buy from them. Unbelievable!

I've considered RHC purely for their Affinia properties. Love them! Someone will obtain a great exchange if you deposit...SFX would be crazy not to accept this.

I considered it too. But I decided against it b/c the affiliation is contractual and not permanent
