  • SFX Platinum Rewards??

I was a member of SFX (gold I think) for a couple years but didn't do any exchanges yet. Now I started getting calls from SFX Platinum Rewards program. I now got an email stating I am a platinum member with 10000 rewards points. What is this program and how did I get those points?

I have been a Platinum member for years and have never heard of this.

I am a Platinum Member with SFX, and got an email with the same thing today - 10,000 points. A few months ago I did get something from them and wondered about it as I had something with Platinum Rewards or Vacations once a long time ago. I also got an email from ICE Gallery about Cruises from SFX.

While waiting for post #3 to be approved, I checked the SFX website. There is information about the Platinum Rewards. I just opened a couple of webpages, but guess I need to read it to see how you use points.

It's a separate program with a company that has an affiliation with SFX. It's confusing because it has the same name as a type of membership in SFX, but it's not the same.

Anna - thank you for your post. SFX Platinum Rewards is our newest, premium membership program that offers all of resort exchange benefits you’ve come to know and enjoy as an SFX Gold or Platinum level member, plus now includes an enhanced tier of cruise and travel benefits which offer incredible flexibility and member-only discounts on cruises, tours, resorts, hotels and other travel services.

The most popular benefit of the SFX Platinum Rewards program is our loyalty feature that allows members to earn loyalty rewards on every dollar spent on travel through their membership, which can be redeemed for future discounts off cruises, tours and preferred resort and hotel inventory. Members receive an initial 10,000 Platinum Rewards upon activation and can choose from several different membership upgrade options depending on their travel needs.

            Hope this helps...

Mark, a while back you had mentioned that there would be a 3 tier program. I joined SFX when the platinum membership did not include the cruises and other "benefits". In a year my platinum membership will expire and I won't be renewing unless something like the original platinum program will be re-implemented. Is this still planned?

Hi Sue - thank you for your post. The original Platinum Membership is still in place for those who have no interest in Platinum Rewards.

Platinum Rewards is a separate tier and program from regular Platinum.

                Hope this helps...

                  Mark,

Nowhere on your web site does it mention the original Platinum membership. This has resulted in a lot of confusion and some pretty heated discussions on another timeshare web site. Because only the Gold and Platinum Rewards memberships are on the web site, many folks believe the original Platinum membership no longer exists and people will be forced to go to the Platinum Rewards at renewal time. I know this is not true but it has caused a lot of misunderstanding.

The new Platinum Rewards model does seem like a strange and doomed-to-failure business model.

For example, Vacations To Go (vacationstogo.com) offers all the same services and more with great rates and no membership fee.

Just my thoughts as an original Platinum SFX member...

Hi Eal - thank you for your post. Not quite sure what data was used to predict your "Doomesday theory". Facts show, several million dollars in upgrades since we launched the program about four months ago. Hardly doomed to fail

Although SFX Platinum Rewards cruise program is not for everyone, for those who do take the " mid to higher-end" cruises, there are some great savings.

Unlike other retail travel sites, the SFX Platinum Rewards membership gives members the enhanced option of exchanging their timeshare week toward a cruise or tour vacation for savings of up to $1,200 off the retail price on up to four cabins with just one deposited week. There are no cruise or tour exchange fees, no travel blackout dates or restrictions and you have access to all major cruise lines and itineraries worldwide. Plus, members earn loyalty rewards on all their travel purchases that can be redeemed for future savings off cruises, tours and resort stays.

The other company you refer to, will not give you up to $1,200 off per cabin up to four cabins, or loyalty rewards points that can be used on other travel purchases. There is a huge difference.

That along with all the other benefits, the savings far outweigh the cost by a huge margin. Simply put, you are saving a lot more money than what you are spending on the membership. However, if cruises are not high on your vacation shopping list, then of course there is no value in the SFX Platinum Rewards program.

                      Hope these facts help...

                      Thanks,

Hi John - thank you for your post and bringing this to our attention. In our upcoming website the membership programs will be a lot clearer and better displayed. We are sorry for any confusion and would like to clearly state our regular Platinum Membership is still very popular and is still available.

                        Hope this helps...

                          Mark,

I just got a call from "SFX" telling me that I had been "upgraded" to a Platinum membership. It was apparent that what he was really doing was trying to sell me the Platinum Rewards product, which I am not interested in. But he insisted that the only Platinum membership that SFX has is the vacation club.

Someone at the real SFX needs to set these guys straight.

SFX Preferred Resorts the San Francisco exchange company

This page from the SFX website would lead one to believe that the original Platinum membership (which I have) has gone the way of the dodo bird.

I received a call on Friday from VRI about their new vacation membership program. I own at a VRI managed resort. Surprisingly their new program is virtually the same as the Platinum Rewards program and costs the same except they are offering discount vouchers right now. I am not interested in their program for the same reason I am not interested in the Platinum Rewards. However it was interesting to listen to all the details. We have no interest in cruises and I feel I can negotiate a better deal at the hotels than they can.

This morning I got an e-mail from VRI regarding their new program. Lo and behold, they had an address that was awful close to SFX's. Is it possible that they are both the same programs?
