  • Trading Places making housecalls?

Received a call from a person from Outfield Marketing claiming to be a Trading Places rep saying that they were going to be in my area (Grand Rapids, MI) and wanted to set an appointment to discuss my timeshare and something about maintenance reimbursment. No idea how they got my name, but they knew my home resort so I figure as I am a deeded owner, my info can be had through public record in FL. Question is, why would Trading Places need to go door to door cold calling? BTW, at least it did get me on the TPI site, looks better than II so I will be giving it a try.

Beware of Outfield Marketing. They are the same group that worked with DRI and Festiva using high pressure home visits to convert members to give up their deeds and pay thousands to convert to the Club and Festiva's adventure Club. I beleive they were fined by the AG (not sure what state) for illegal practices. Trading Places has a free membership available to everyone but they also have one that costs several thousands dollars. If it was really worth it they would make the details available to everyone who qualifies and allow them to make an informed decision instead of having a very questionable high pressure group like Outfiel Marketing pushing the product.

Thanks for the info, I will pass on the meeting with Outfield. Wandering the boards a bit I find that TPI was aquired by II's parent company awhile back. This raises an interesting question on how Outfield got my resort info and my address. At the moment it could appear that TPI has II's membership lists and has Outfield cold calling. Hope a TPI rep can clear this up.

Outfield Marketing is a third-party sales and marketing company that has a signed agreement with us, Trading Places International (TPI), to market our Premier Access program to select owners at select resorts. This program is not available to the general public. The representatives of Outfield Marketing are not in any way employed or in partnership with TPI.
