You may consider Discount Cruises, Last Minute Cruises, Cruise, Cruise Line, Cruise Vacation. You can book all kinds of last minute cruise deals, trains, and hotels for a discount. I have used HGVC points for cruises and found it to be very easy and effective. I have used vacationstogo and HGVC to book a combination train tour and TS vacation.

If you are still considering an Alaskan Cruise. Royal Caribbean Radiance of the Seas has really great prices for 08/22 for U.S. Military Or residents from many U.S. States, Base and Port Chrges as low as $769 For Ocean View cabins.

Keep in mind that the prices you see online do not include govt taxes which are HIGH for Alaskan Cruises Approx. $119.00 Per Person Plus Fuel Surcharges Which now are $7-$9 per person per day.

The Current Published Price for the Radiance of the Seas 08/22/2008 for an ocean view is $849.00 Per Person but when you add taxes and Fuel Surcharges the Total price for this cabin is $2047.78 which brings the price to $1023.89 Per person

If you are Retired Military, Active Duty Military, or Honorable Dicharge Military your price for this same cabin would be $1747.48 or $873.89 Per person TOTAL

If you live in AZ,CA,GA,IL,MA,MD,MI,MN,MO,NM,NV,NY,OH,OK,OR,PA,TX ,WA And do not qualify for the Military rate you would pay $1947.78 or $973.89 per person TOTAL

Or if you are over the age of 55 You would pay $1887.78 or $943.89 Per Person TOTAL

And finally if you are a Canadian Citizen you would pay $1847.78 or $923.89 Per Person TOTAL.

This is a great example of why you should use a Travel Agent. Most, but not all of us will research all promotions like these to get you the best deal. (keeps you coming back)

All the above prices Include everything that you will pay until you start charging stuff to your cabin. Base Fare, Port Charges, Fuel Surcharges and Govt. Taxes.

As a Side note If you are Canadian (Or most other foriegn Countries) Please ask your agent for rates in USD as most cruise lines are not friendly to foriegn Currencies. With the USD being about weak you will come out ahead.

One last side note Southbound Alaskan Cruises always seem to have best prices.

When considering a cruise that says Anchorage (Whittier) be careful. That is frankly like saying "Washington, DC (Baltimore)" in that it is close to two hours by car from Anchorage to Whittier . . . and Whittier is really in a very remote area.

We are going on an Alaskan Cruise the first week of Sept. (cruisetour) southbound with an inside cabin. We do not plan on spending time in the cabin. Family and friends total of 12 people will be with us. With elevators getting around should not be a problem no matter where you are. I would rather spend my money on seeing places than on an upgraded room. With flight from RDU including tranfers and taxes (except fuel charge if there is one by then) the cost is $2349 per person for the 10 day cruisetour. Yes, it is thru a travel agency.

I've never cruised Alasksa so I'm not sure about excursions available from Whittier. There is a hotel there, and maybe a B&B. If you have a full day in Whittier I would suggest the Eco Wildlife Tour out of the harbor there in Whittier.
