  • TRI West Timeshares Company

Has anyone had any experience with "TRI WEST TIMESHARES" ? They are a company based in Southern California that lists for a fee, timeshares for sale, exchange or rent.
    Thanks, Don in Auburn, CA

Oh yes, some of us have. Once upon a time a very good outfit, but in the past few years they have been getting a bit seedy. Be wary of them and that intercity transfer crap outfit they used to deal exclusively with. If you are not dealing exclusively with Mario Collura, keep your hand on your wallet and get everything in writing. CZ had an interesting experience with them that he documented better than most lawyers would.

We dealt with them on a rental, it went fine (By the way at The Whaler in Maui)
I have sent a couple of friends that are not timeshare savvy to them for rentals and all was as promised.
Remember they have a real estate license in California (Which may be an incentive to them to be honest) and I believe them to be reputable. Our dealings have all been prior to the last year. (SO not a very recent experience)
As with any vendor make certain they line out the terms and get it right when you make the agreement.
Some have complained their closing costs are high on timeshares just be aware of that and take that off the original price you offer them.

I'm also a big fan of Mario, and consider him to still be an asset to the resale industry. In the past I've also dealt with both Viccie and Betty and found them both the be excellent. As the market has evolved however, his office has become more of a niche broker dealing primarily with west coast resorts and especially the Four Seasons brand.

If you are thinking about working with a broker, I generally recommend you find a broker who works frequently with your property- and who is willing to cooperate with other resellers. Also check to verify the office is licensed, and ask questions to find out what type of advertising is normally done.
