We visited our daughter who lives in Lakewood, CA ( adjoins Long Beach ) a couple weeks ago. We went to downtown Long Beach to have dinner at Famous Dave's Barbeque. We also did a tour of downtown LB. What a pleasant surprise. We hadn't visited LB for a couple years or so. It is very nice with tons of restaurants and an active night life. They have also built new condos. We saw the first renovation a few years when there were mainly new office buildings but now it is a complete city and a very nice one. I remember Long Beach 50 years ago when I used to go to the Pike amusement park by the beach. It was torn down 30 years ago. I rode my first roller coaster at the Pike. Downtown LB was pretty seedy in those days
