Wow, I want to go on a Safari! You two do the research for us all.....and now u can ignore the email I sent you!

I agree that the October timeframe would be wonderful for CA trip in the future. That is when I sent my parents a few years ago.

While February can be quite wet, Palm Springs gets far less rain than other locations. Please know, however, that it can rain nonstop for a week. That's not typical, but it can happen in February.

Another nice resort to consider is Welk Escondido. It is very relaxing!

We did as mentioned South Africa ...so looking at California again . This time in May. Any thoughts or updates on our plan . looking at a 7 day Marriott plus say 10 days or so touring . Could we do LA and SF or just one ? Would be nice to go maybe in a coach tour as well ...Would appreciate you advice again . Thanks

Are you still planning on 3 weeks? I wouldn't put so much emphasis on Los Angeles and instead concentrate more on San Diego and San Francisco. I would do it in a half loop as I said earlier. Obviously you can't begin to see everything in that time frame so you need to plan the most efficient route so you don't do any backtracking. The weather should be great with possibly some marine layer along the coast ( May Grey ).

Are there any particular attractions you want to see?

I just did a trip to Southern Coastal CA and loved it. I stayed in the Carlsbad area - you might be able to get a week at the Four Seasons Aviara in late April/early May from II. There are many choices in the area.

San Diego area is wonderful - many sites to see in San Diego and surrounding areas. You can do a day trip into Mexico, out into the desert (visit Palm Springs, CA) wineries in Temecula, Disneyland and the beautiful coastal beaches and state parks.

If I had 17-21 days I would start in SoCal/San Diego area for a week, take a coach tour up the coast and spend the last week in San Francisco.

I sent my parents to San Fran without a car. They did a day trip to Yosemite National Park, a day tour to Monterey, a winery tour all booked thru the timeshare as well as the "usual" San Francisco tourist stuff.

              Very good advice, Pat.

Yosemite is one of our most beautiful National Parks and certainly that time of the year.

As I said earlier. make sure you spend some time in San Diego. We lived in San Diego for 20 years and now live just an hour north of San Diego in the Temecula Valley. We take several 2-3 day stays in San Diego to play tourist as it is a great area to visit.
