  • Help for Disneyland

    Hi Guys,
Reading these forums look like they have helped many confused people. I am one of those. We plan to go to Disneyland,Ca. in March. I own points with Monarch Grand Vacations, but if I understand correctly I would not be able to exchange into DVC. If this is correct, would I be able to trade directly with an owner of DVC?
For example, I have a two bedroom unit July 3-6 in Monarch's Cancun resort in Las Vegas. I have been there many times and is an awesome place. Could I just make a "trade" with somebody that has DVC for two nights without going through a service?
Is there any other way around this? If not, is there a place near the park that anyone recommends. It would be cool to stay on site through DVC, though. Thanks for any help or advice you can give.

Are you asking about March of this year?

Your best bet at this late date is to try to rent from a DVC owner. You can certainly try to find one that want's to trade, but honestly for a two night off season stay renting would be the easiest way to go.

I would go the the DVC owners forum( Disboards.com), and ask for a rental or trade, best of luck.

      If you can't get DVC...

We visit Disneyland every year and stay at Dolphin's Cove. We've been able to rent additional nights directly from the resort.

If there is availability in March for two nights, then I am sure you would be able to find an owner to rent you points for the going rate. Any DVC owner can book a DVC at less than 7 months out, so you don't need to find a VGC owner.

VGC is tough as far as availability goes, but you could get lucky. If I had points to rent, I'd rent them out, but we use all of ours and then borrow into the future .

You could also stay at the Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier Hotel. They aren't timeshares with kitchens or kitchenettes, but they are Disney hotels. You could also book a room at the Grand Californian, the hotel that is right there with its own entrance to CA Adventure. They built the timeshare villas adjacent to the hotel.

          Thanks Denise,
I don't mind Disney hotel or Paradise or kitchens for that matter if I could stay on site. I was just wondering if this was even possible to do. I posted on mouseowners for a trade, is there anything else I could try? Dolphin's Cove and Hotel Pepper Tree are alternatives but I would like to stay at Disney just once. Thanks again, Mo

Well, if you really wanted to rent points, you could try looking at the disboards rent/trade board. For the hotels, you can book that directly yourself online through many travel sites.

I don't know if a direct trade with your Monarch Las Vegas would be possible...it may be tough to find someone with Disney points willing to trade. And again, availability through DVC may be tough.

If you truly want to stay on Disney property, check out the Disney hotels (Disneyland Hotel, Grand Californian, and Paradise Pier). Also look at the disboards and there are many owners with points to rent for $10-12 point. If there was availability, they would be able to rent you a studio or one bedroom. Not sure what your dates are in March but I can look up the points needed for you if you want to know.

WorldMark has a property near Disneyland as well....I suggest you check there.

Yes, you could negotiate a trade with a DVC member, but I think this would be far harder than you think. The average DVCer usually only wants other DVC properties, select Marriotts, and/or perhaps a Royal resort.

My suggestion would be to either book a Disney hotel, or better yet Priceline one in the area and/or stay at HoJo.

                Good luck!
