  • Timeshares near Monterey, CA?

Our son's family is moving to Monterey in 10 days so I am interested on timeshares in that area. It doesn't matter whether they are II or RCI as we will be exchanging with SFX or renting. I am not necessarily looking for anything immediately.

I know there is a Worldmark at Marina and SFX has a couple at Pacific Grove in their directory. I think there also may be 1 or 2 at Carmel. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    John,

I think you have them covered. There is the Hyatt in Carmel-but I think that's about it.

Check the Ex Ops for Hyatt Monterey in RCI. Not necessarily a regular appearance but there may be dates you can use for now. Hotel rooms, not t/s.

I am not a member of RCI. I canceled my membership several years ago. I don't know what Ex Ops is.

As I said, I will either be exchanging with SFX or renting.

Ex Ops are available online exchanges spotted by our tireless contributors online through the exchange companies. RCI has negotiated bulk availability for Hyatt, Hilton, and some other hotel chains. There was a recent deposit for Monterey - check the RCI exchange opportunities forum. I understand your cancelation of RCI - but I have kept mine up b/c of its ability to deliver where others cannot. It's a love/hate rel'p; I wish that SFX could meet my needs all the time, that would be nirvana.

It won't help me because I would never use RCI in a million years. SFX has always given me everything I have asked for and more.

I hear you. Good luck with SFX.

Thank you. I will just rent if I can't get the exchange I want. This will be an ongoing thing to visit our son and grandkids. We have no schedules to adhere to and can leave immediately as we will be driving I saw a Worldmark at Marina ( 10 minutes from our son ) week for rent at a pretty reasonable rate.

WorldMark Marina Dunes is not a large property and because of it's location it sells out rapidly at the 13 month mark all year long. Once WorldMark comes up today I will check on it for you but it's a very slim shot unless you are looking for April 23, 2012 or beyond.

Pine Acres Lodge and Pine Grove are the two that I've seen on occassion in Pacific Grove.

Probably a little further out than you are looking for but SVC has a a couple in SanFrancisco Inn at the Opera, Suites at Fisherman’s Wharf and the The Donatello. If you are interested in any of those at any time let me know.

John, I have sent you a PM regarding Pacific Grove Plaza. That would be your closest timeshare to Monterey. They rent units out and they are wonderful and very large. They are really like a condo with underground parking. Just beautiful. Totally redone recently.

Worldmark is several miles from Monterey in Marina and not near anything. You have to drive everywhere you go.

PGP is right in the middle of town on Lighthouse with 25 restaurants within walking distance. There are cute shops, the post office, ice cream parlor, market - everything nearby.

Lover's Point is just two blocks away and there is a very nice paved trail that goes along the ocean all the way to Cannery Row and then beyond to Fisherman's Wharf.

Thanks for the help but these are much too far from Monterey. We don't want to stay in San Francisco though I love the city. We lived in the San Francisco Bay area for several years.

Our purpose in visiting Monterey is strictly to visit our son and grandkids.

I replied to your PM. Actually our son will be in Seaside as he is the new Head Coach of the men's soccer program at California State University at Monterey Bay. CSUMB is actually in Seaside so Marina is the same distance as Pacific Grove but far less traffic.

We will have our car with us. As I said, our purpose is not to sightsee but to visit our son and 3 grandkids. We have been all over that area many times.

We used to buy huge heads of cauliflower at Castroville when we lived in the Bay area.

I would highly recommend this timeshare condo building if it is close to your son. We really liked it here and would stay there again if we would go back to that area. It is more like a regular condo project but very nice and comfortable. We may have rented there before we owned timeshares but the street has all buildings that are restored so very well kept and the condos inside are also refurbished so it should be very nice.
